location of Ontario Hydro's proposed transmission facilities between;
•the Bruce Nuclear Power Development, near Kincardine, and the Essa Transformer Station, near
Barrie;
• the Bruce Nuclear Power Development and a new transformer Station to be built in the London
area; and
• the new transformer station in the London area and the Nanticoke Generating Station, on
Lake Erie

first in Huron Perth G�lf

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, the lady golfers
had their final organized play for the year.
The tennis ladies were out on the courts as
well.
A field of 20 golfers participated and win-
ners were Maxine Martin, Jean Bell, Jean
Knight, Jean Hanly, Gertie Wilson and Pat
Tyndall.
After dinner Dr. Phogg and his amazing
Medicine Show; in other words "The
Foghorns" entertained. Virtuoso perfor-
mances were given by guest artists,
Shelagh Sully on the gut bucket and Jean
Knight on the spoons. The Foghorns were
resplendent in their new evening dress,
and their performance with Hilary the
Snake was hilarious.
The G.D.C.I. girls' golf team, consisting
of Mary -Jo Evans, Jenny Allen, Kirsten
Egener and Deb Habel, covered
themselves with glory at the Huron -Perth
Golf classic, by taking first place.
Mary -Jo Evans was low gross for the
field with a 43, thus defending her title for
the second year in a row.
The boys' team', led by Ray Bedard with
a 75 placed second at the Huron -Perth
level, and third at W.O.S.S.A-.1n,Sarnja.
This is a very good showing for aillthese
young golfers, and some of them, at least,
are products of the Maitland.
This is the final Maitland Golf column
for this season, but don't let that stop you
from golfing. The flags will be up as long
as this salubrious weather continues.
"Q" Egener is this season's club, champion
at the Maitland Golf Club.

Mary Lapaine won the Mrs. Bruce trophy
for. .most improved golfer this year at the
Maitland Golf Club.
Junior girls have defeated
Seaforth, Clinton and
St. Marys in basketball

The GDCI junior girls' basketball team
is off to -a good start this season. Coach Lyn
Meyers' team has a record of three wins in
Huron -Perth league play, with all three
victories involving large point spreads.
The Vikings have defeated Seaforth,
Clinton and St. Marys so far. This. Thurs-
day they will play Stratford Northwestern
here in what will probably be their first
real test in Conference play.
The Vikes alsohad an exhibition victory
over Strathroy in a close game acid mere
badly beaten by a strong Pope John Paul II
team in London. •
Meyers has a strong_ returnees in Mary
Jo Evans, Krista Collinson, Maureen.
Stapleton; Pam Fritzley and captain Rhon-
da Teal.
First. year juniors Julie Melick, Shelley
AdaWst Beth MacDonald, Kim Edwards,
Heathen Bogie, Kathy Lomas and
neweorner Christine Connelly are all mak-
ing a positive contribution.
This Saturday, the Vikings will be
hosting 'a tournament involving eight
teams. The Vikings 'Open the tournament
playing London Clarke Road at 9 a.m.
Other teams competing are Sarnia St.
Pats, Grey Highlands of Flesherton, Nor-
wich, Stratford Central, Lambton Central
and the favored Pope John Paul II team.
Gaines will continue throughout the day
with the consolation final at 7 p.m. and the
chanipionahiIj game at 8:30 p.m.
Senior Vikings hammer Seaforth
The G.D,C.I. Senior. Vikings continued in
their winning ways as they crushed the
Seaforth Golden Bears 70.17 last Wednes-
day in Seaforth. The Gdderich girls took.
the early lead 20-2 at the end of the' first
quarter and coasted to victory with all Vik-
Ings scoring.
- Mary 'Katherine Stapletonled; the
onslaught with 21 points while Sarah Alex-
anderr and Erin Robinson added 18 and tb
respectively. Rounding out the Goderich
scoring. Were Katharine Murphy ;(8),
'Cathie Gallow (8), Robin El►g'elstad (8 )4
Natile Lebrun (8), Jenn Peters (4) Joanne
Campbell ()and Susan Murphy f 1).
The Vikings play the rival Stratford Nor-
thwestern`Huskies at home this Thursday
(tomorrew- 2:00 pm) which should prove
to be an excellent games.
The girls then travel to the prestigious
University of Western Ontario's Purple
and White Classic. They won the tourney
two • years ago ;.and were consolation
champs• last year. Some of the provinces
top teams will be competing.
The Vikes open this year against highly.
