Kerbie kernel offers tips for children on farm safety • During the past 10 years, close to 100 children under the age of 15 have been killed as a result of farm -related accidents in On- tario. The Farm Safety Association, has aim- ed many of its programs in recent years at rural youth to help increase awareness of the hazards associated with agriculture. The most recent statistics show a significant decline in the number of deaths among school -aged children on Ontario farms. In a continuing effort to increase safety awareness with rural .children, the Farm Safety Association, and Pioneer Hi -Bred Limited of Chatham, has developed a farm safety storybook entitled "Watch Out!" says Kerbie. The 32 -page full colour booklet covers many of the hazards that children can en- counter in the rural environment. Author Joanne Kuster uses Kerrie, a talking kernel of corn to show a young girl named Mary some of the many dangers around her fami- ly farm. .,.with the New SUPER TOMAHAWK Chipper/Shredder: EXETER 235-1113 HURON TRACTOR BLYTH 323-4244.
