Speech pathologist may be hired

quickly and competently the aihbulance
drivers did their jobs on this occasion.
The purchase of the house in Clinton to
house the Clinton community psychiatric
service has been completed and the ser-
vice is now operating from the new
location.
The arrangements for lease of the new
facilities in Wingham for the Wingham
community psychiatric service at the
Wingham and District Hospital are com-
pleted and renovations to the facility are
due to begin September 29. The contractor
feels that the work should be completed in
approximately one month's time.
The Goderich hospital has signed a lease
with the Wingham hospital for the rental
space for the service in a building owned
by the Wingham hospital.'
The hospital administrator is finalizing
arrangements to lease space in the
Kinsmen Centre for the new Goderich
community psychiatric service and it is
hoped this program can begin October 1.

the committment for the one year trial
period, they may also be making a com-
mittment to incur the capital cost for new
equipment when the Bluewater Centre,.

The committee recommended that at the
end of the trial period a written evaluation
of the service must be provided to the
board if a permanent service is
contemplated.
The Ministry of Health has approved
funding of $64,000 to provide an extra am-
bulance to serve the residents of Clinton
and Seaforth areas. This should relieve the
pressure on the Goderich service4o pro-
vide service to the Clinton area when the
one vehicle in Seaforth is unavailable.
Board member Mary Lapaine expressed
her appreciation publicly for the prompt
response made by the Goderich am-
bulance crew to an unfortunate incident at
the Bedford Hotel recently. Lapaine said

marks birthday
Alma (Goldthorpe) MacEwan
celebrated her 99th birthday on September
23, 1887. Born in Colborne Township, she
came as a baby to live in Goderich. She
married William G. MacEwan on
September 27, 1916 in St. George's
Anglican Church. They were married at
the unusual hour of 5 a.m. to catch the 6
a.m. train to go to Chicago. Many of their.
friends were at the station to see them off.
From Chicago they travelled to Winnipeg.
Mrs. MacEwan has a family of t o
daughters, Helen, Mrs. Gordon McManuls
and the late Kathleen, Mrs. Donald Mason.
She has four grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. D. A. Mc-
Carten who lives in West Vancouver.

the membership barrier of 1000. The latest
print-out from Dominion Command for 1986
indicates that the nominal roll of Branch 109
now totals 1005 members.
