be meeting with the administrator of the

Care program co-ordinator for the Huron
County health unit to discuss the provision
of speech pathology services with a view to
improving the present level of service.
The Huron County health unit has lost
the services of their speech pathologist
whom they recently hired and Goderich
hospital is receiving enquiries regarding
service to school aged children. The
hospital is only providing service to pre-
school children and adults at this time. The
health unit is providing the service for
school aged children.
Englestad also told the board a study is
currently underway to evaluate the
emergency services available in Huron
and Perth Counties. A committee has been
struck with broad representation from
hospitals, physicians, ,nurses, police, fire,
ambulance etc. The study is being funded
by the Ministry of Health and a project co-
ordinator has been hired.
In other business, the hospital's new

The Ministry of Health has notified the
hospital that its funding allocation has
been, increased to cover the cost of the

health and safety. • The total increase
amounts to $84,300.
The purchase of a chemistry analyzer at
a cost of $42,000 has received final ap-
proval from the board's property•commit-
tee after this capital purchase was approv-
ed by the board. It was suggested by the
property committee' that area • hospitals
discuss the feasibility of group purchasing
for capital' equipment as a means of ob-
taining better prices. Administrator
Englestad was asked to discuss this at the
Huron - Perth administrators working
group meeting.
The Ministry of Health has approved the
brickwork and roof repairs project which
will be cost shared by the ministry. The
ministry's share will be two-thirds and the
local share is one-third.

The property, committee has been advis-
ed that the Bluewater- Centre has the
equipment the hospital would need but un-
til a dental facility is built at the centre,
they would be willing to let the hospital use
the equipment for approximately one
year. The committee feels this will give
the hospital an opportunity to assess the
need for the service.
Some minor changes will be necessary
in the operating room but it is estimated
they could be made for between $500 and
$1,000.
Englestad expressed concern that once
the equipment is installed and utilized, it
will be difficult to remove the. equipment
