The families chose Goderich for the event because it was to this area their forebearers immigrated from Banffshire, Scotland in the 1830's. Included were visitors from Sault Ste. Marie and Dayton, Ohio. Twenty-two members of the clan came from Mississauga including the youngest Edward at two weeks. The James Edward family of Clinton organized the reunion and had worked for over a year finding "lost cousins".
