Ushers were Dan Henry, of RR6 Goderich and Ged Stinnissen, of Waterford. The reception was held at the home of the groom's parents. Ken McGee, of Goderich, came home with a second -place finish from the 34th annual CNE Antique Classic Car Rally and Parade, held August 28. McGee's 1949 Buick Roadmaster, one of only eight such cars in the world, captured second place in Class 6 (Post War to 1961) at the competition. McGee isan antique car enthusiast who has been buying, restoring and showing classic automobiles for many years. His Roadmaster was One of over 220 vehicles displayed at the show. Margaret Reynolds, daughter of Mrs. M. Reynolds, of Goderich, graduated on the Dean's list of Loyalist College, Belleville, as a Social Worker. Lisa Leddy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nor- man Leddy, graduated in June from the Dental Assisting Program at Fanshawe Col- lege. Lisa is currently employed with a den- tal office in London. SWEEP enhances water quality SWEEP is a five year $30 million federal - provincial agreement designed to improve soil and water quality in southwestern Ontario. The program was developed in response to the Canada -U.S. Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement calling for phosphorous reductions in the Lake Erie basin. SWEEP is part of the Canadian agreement calling for reduction of 300 tonnes per year — 200 from crop lands and 100 from industrial and municipal sources. • SWEEP has two purposes: the first is to reduce phosphorous loadings in the Lake Erie basin from cropland; the second is to Township vetos GODERICH TWP - During a special coun- cil meeting held here on August 25, council decided to veto Dick Peever's proposal to put a trailer park on a part lot' of the Bayfield Concession. Following a- study of letters of objection, letters in support and requests for informa- tion, council passed the motion, "That we recommend to the Huron County Planning Department that Harbour Lights (Peever) application not be approved in its present form." Council decided to call tenders for an of- fice addition to the Goderich Township Com- munity Centre. The two levels of government will attack the problem in a coordinated effort, drawing on the expertise of the public and private sectors, including farmers and farm groups. The Ontario Ministry of Agricluture and Food will stress delivery of their Soil and Water Conservation program by strengthening its extension in the field, demonstrating technology and giving technical, assistance to farmers. During their regular meeting of August 18, countil passed a bylaw which *ill designate the Holmesville Ball Park as the G. G. (Gerry) Ginn Memorial Ball Park. Council received four tenders for deliver- ing pit run and crushed gravel for the township roads.
