September
September scent is in the air;
Swaths of grain on stubble bare,
Beckoning flocks, They circle yield;
Wild geese settle in the field.
I hear September's harvest lay,
By droning combines through the day,
Now at dusk the honking sounds,
Wild geese leave the feeding grounds.
I see September as I gaze
Above machinery dust and haze.
In black and wavering lines they fly,
Wild geese etch the autumn sky,
This poem was written by Jean
Reinhardt of Leader Saskatchewan.
