.Auburn couple celebrates
45th wedding niversary
with friends d relatives
Last Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
Seers entertained at their cottage in honor
of Mr. and Mrs. Don Kai of Wingham who
were . celebrating their 25th Wedding An-
niversary. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Ander-
son of Auburn celebrated their 45th Wedding
Anniversary. Many friends and relatives
were in, attendance and enjoyed a pleasant
evening together. Both couples were reci-
pients of cards, gifts, and a delicious lunch
was served including decorated anniver-
sary cakes.
Miss Betty Marsh has returned- from
Goderich Alexandra Marine and General
hospital.
On Thursday night, September 4th at 8
pm, Auburn Women's Institute is invited to
Blyth Institute to hear Murray Gaunt speak
and to view his pictures of his trip to British
Isles. This will be held at Blyth United
Church.
Mrs. Bess Baechler is a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital in London.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Beard of Mitchell
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jardin on
Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bennett were recent
visitors with Mrs. Elva Straughan.
The Leatherland reunion was held on Sun-
day, August 24th, at the home of Mrs. Clair
Vincent. Jr. races and contests were en- • ••
joyed. There were 35 present.
The flowers in the Church Sanctuary were
placed in loving memory of Viola McDowell
by her husband, Norman, and family.
September 7th, our worship service will°
begin at 11:15 am.
Worry". Offering was received by Greg,
Park, Roger Cunningham, Murray Rollison
and Larry Plaetzer. Service closed with
Congregation Benediction "Father We Love
Thee".
Mr. Gary Shuttleworth was in charge of
the 10 am service at Knox United Church
with Lori Millian as pianist.
Prayers, Life and Work of the church
were given followed by the Lord's Prayer.
Miss Lori Millian played an instrumental
"How Great Thou Art" on piano.
There was time for children and they went
to their Sunday School rooms in charge of
Margo Middlekamp and Margaret Bakker.
The minister chose for his sermon "Don't

Mrs. Walter Carpenter of St, Catharines.
Larry, Kelly and Amanda Brindley,
Leonard and Violet Brindley, Susan and
Elwyn and Russ and Louise Brindley
travelled to Bright on Sunday to visit with
Brenda Brindley and see her newly pur-
chased home. They also celebrated
Russell's birthday.

OPP appoint
new commander
for detachment
Sgt. Rick Turnbull, formerly of the Sebr-
ingville detachment of the OPP, was ap-
pointed detachment commander in
-Goderich recently. Sgt. Turnbull; who serv-
ed as an officer in. the South Porcupine
detachment for 13 years before being
posted in Sebringville in 1983, is replacing
Sgt. John Donatis, who will retire from ac-
tive duty later this year. Sgt. Turnbull and
his wffe Barb, have four daughters; Cindy
15, Christine, 12, Carolyn 10 and Cheryl, 7.
