Craig Corriveau is going into Grade 3 and he "kind of" wants to go back to school to play with school friends more. "I like math and recess," he says. Lisa Harvey, on the other hand, hates math and school. She is going into Grade 2 and says she loves ber teachers but she loves summer. Jeff McBurney doesn't want to go back to school because, "I don't like doing the work." Hailey Block who is going into Grade 3, has had enough of summer. Time limit at day care centre a worry • from page 1 She adds that the time limit of November is a real worry. "Come November we could be out in the snow. We keep going to council meetings and the ,need for day care will always be there with the number of babies being born lately, but what else can we do?" she asks. "It's so frustr ting because I know a day care centre coube a success in Goderich. But, everything's going so slow. I don't understand why it's taking eight months to research this issue," she says. Parents heard Clerk -Administrator Larry McCabe at council's Aug. 18 meeting update the day care situation: After the members of the administration and personnel committee visited the day care centre in St. Marys, they gathered financial information from the day care centres in Wingham and Tuckersmith Township. They also received a letter from Goderich Township council that it is in- terested in being involved with a day care centre in Goderich. McCabe said the town has not had a response from Judy Cooper, of the Ministry of Community and Social Ser- vices about the grants available to renovate a building for a day care centre. He said he hopes to present a package to the administration committee at itis next meeting with a projection -of 1987 figures for a day care centre in Goderich. • Police will be `strict but fair' on Labor Day The Labor Day holiday weekend marks the close of the summer vacation season and as a result, a high volume of traffic is expected on Ontario roadways leading to and from the cottage country areas. Ontario Provincial Police Officers from across the province report a noticeable im- provement in .the driving behavior of On- tario's motoring public. Highway deaths on holiday weekends have been drastically reduced. To remind motorists of their respon- sibilities, the O.P.P. "Strict is Fair" traf-, fic enforcement program will again be in full effect. As impaired driving and excessive speed continue to be the main factors in most `fatal accidents, the O.P.P. will be utilizing their R.I.D.E. program and radar units to ° reduce traffic accidents and death. "This summer the ° Ontario drivers response to traffic safety initiatives by all police forces in Ontario has been very rewarding," said O.P.P. Commissioner Archie Ferguson. Commissioner Ferguson expresses his sympathy to those families who have lost loved ones through.., tragic car accidents and pledges a maximum effort by his of- ficers to minimize any'furtherloss of lives on Ontario's highways. During the 1985 holiday weekend 10 peo- ple were killed in nine fatal traffic ac- cidents on roads patrolled by the O.P.P.
