Coyotes run string to 3-0 as
GMSL playoff action heats up
Flay -off time truly is the second season
as all divisions are producing tight races
and unexpected results.
Take A division for example. Coyotes
are undefeated in three starts with vic-
tories over Chrysler. Boyes Transport and
Canadian Tire by scores of 14-3; 3-1 and
19-8 respectively.
Bones Transport surprised everyone
with a 6-2 win over Ideal Supply. A 3-2 vic-
tory over the Bulldogs and a 19-9 lopsided
win over Chrysler. They then surprised
themselves by losing 13-10 to Nissan and to
the Coyotes, 3-1.
The Bulldogs edged Nissan 10-4 and
Canadian Tire 20-16. Ideal Supply evened
their record with a 16-10 win over Chrysler
and Canadian Tire downed Goderich
Nissan 12-7.
As only the top four teams advance to
the next round, you can bet the competi-
tion will be fierce for the remainder of this
round.
In B Division we see almost a complete
reversal of regular season,stanotings, with
Suncoast Restaurant posting a ghrprising
0-4 record while Home Hardware and the
Chiefs continue their hot play. The protest
concerning the Elevator vs Chiefs game
has been upheld and the game will be
played to its finish on Sunday August 24 at
3:30 p.m. on Signal -Star Diamond
(hopefully).
C Division is the only one going actor-,
ding to prediction. Sift. and Sunys will bat-
tle it out to the end.
All players and umpires are reminded
that all remaining game times (except at
Benmiller) will be '/z hour earlier than
what is printed on time schedules.
Soccer Atoms lose 8-3
Last Thursday in Goderich the Atoms
lost to St. Columban By a decisive 8-3
count. Left wing Steven Linklater scored
two goals and striker Jeff Klages one for
Goderich. Centre -half Jason Meriam and
left back Taylor Cicchini were defensive
standouts.
Last Monday night in Goderich, the
Squirts turned in their hest effort of the
season in defeating previously unbeaten
Seaforth 4-2. Centre forward Mark
Johnston scored three goals. Inside -left
Matt Hunter picked up one goal and one
assist, and inside-right'Randy Martin chip-
ped in with an assist. Centre -half Terry
Pardys was the standout defensive player.
In Squirt House League action last
Wednesday, Giants defeated Bombers 4-2,
Matt Hunter scored three goals and Rhon-
da McDougall one for the winners. Willie
Lomas and Karen Harrison replied with
one goal apiece for Bombers. . . •
