Harrison and Chisholm
lead Sifto to 13-6 win
4.4
With the score tied at 6-6 in the top off the
fifth inning, Sifto scored seven runs to
defeat Samuelson's 13-6 on August 5.
Jackie Harrison and Dorrie Chisholm each
had'
ialrlRoryo. and Hurlock fia tif hit doubles for Samuelson's.
On August 6, Debbie Clarence and Kim
Ausjtin hit triples, leading Go-4-Ettes to a
134 victory over the Hot Shots. Go-4-Ettes
allowed only five hits during the game.
Angela Carter blasted two home runs
and Joyce Baer smacked a triple as Sifto
defeated Meneset 11-2 on August 6. Joy Orr
scored the two Meneset runs with a triple
and a solo home run.
In a close game on August 7 Hot Shots
outscored Nile 5-1. Laurie Reid knocked in
one run and scored two for. Hot Shots, while
Ann Drennan scored the lone Nile run.
The same night Nile got their bats work-
ing as they beat Double Blue 11-2. Alice
Koopman went three for three for Nile.
Kathy DeJong did the same for Double
Blue.
Heat and humidity
helps keep scores low
With the holiday on Monday, Men's Night
was played on Thursday, August 7. Vince
Young captured first low net with a 30 and
Tony Bedard corning in with a 35 for first
low gross. It's a wonder anyone could play
as it was very hot and humid, but 39 men
turned out and I guess that humidity helped
keep them lubricated because the scores
were quite low. Second low gross was shot
by Bruno Lapaine, who carded a 39. Next in
line were Clive Caswell, Bill Cochrane, Bob
McDougall, Bill fianly, Bill Duncan, Mur-
ray McGill, and John Stringer.
The ladies had a fun night on Tuesday
playing Bingo-Bango-Bongo. This is played
in threesomes and a point is awarded to the
first person on the green, the person closest
to the hole when all are on the freen, and the
first to hole out. I can't see the men playing
this, but you play your own game and your
score does count for handicap purposes, so it
is not ;a complete waste of time, and you
shouldil't be deadly serious about your golf
all the (time. Winners in the first flight were
Ardith Brissette, Marie Huff and Maxine
ON THE
BALL
est the Maitland
Martin. Second flight: Bess Smith, Edna
Looker, and Jean Bell. Third flight winners
were Kay Duncan, Jean Hanly and Chris
Hoffmeyer, and Audrey Rumble, Joyce
Shack and Lois McGill were fourth flight
:winners,
Can you picture this? An elderly lady
golfer parked her battery-operated push
cart beside the green without shutting it off,
and proceeded onto the green to putt. Much
to her surprise, the cart took off on its own
down the fairway. With four ladies of vary-
ing ages and physical proportions in hot pur-
suit, it led them a merry chase across two
greens, through a bunker and down a. hill
before they caught up to it where it had
come to rest in a pond! Sounds more like
some crazy comedy than a staid Victoria
golf course, doesn't it?
Graham gains low net
at Sunset Men's Night
Tony Bedard continued his golfing pro-
wess on Men's Night when he again claim-
ed low gross of the day. Steve Graham
followed; with low net of the day. Low gross
first flight was Larry Gaynor and low net
was Marcel Richard. Randy Miller claim-
ed low gross in second flight and Paul Cor-
riveau, low net. Low gross in third flight
was Greg Jervis and low net was won by
Harold Refflinghaus.
Ladies' Night saw Kathy MacDonald,
take low gross in first flight and Pat Jewell
hosted second flight low gross. Eleanor
Ritchie captured low gross in third flight
and Roz Elliott took fourth flight low gross.
Congratulations are offered to Don and

way on Wednesday. Don't miss the Mixed
Two -Ball on Friday, August 15th. But in
