Very Exclusive Pontiac!
1986' GRAND PRIX 2 * 2
Only 100 of these units have been built
for Canada and just four will . be
available in General Motors' Territory 3.
A legendary name returns to Pontiac's lineup of exciting cars with introduction of, the
1986 Pontiac 2 t 2.
Based on the division's mid-size 1986 Grand Prix, this new entry is a bold expres-
sion intended for those who desire a luxury sport model with performance -oriented power
and handling,
Dramatic exterior styling of the .Pontiac .2 f 2 begins up front with a rounded front
fascia incorporating four -sectioned honeycomb grillwork. The upper sections blend
smoothly into the molded fascia panel, while the lower sections are mounted in the
body -colored bumper. A deepiront air dam adds to the sporty character and, like the
fascia, is made of reaction injection molded (RIM) urethane. .
Farther back, the aerodynamic flavor continues with a sweeping, permanently fixed
rear window. A fiberglass panel covers the area between the rear seat and the aft por-
tion of the window. This panel is finished in matte black to reduce glare on the window.
Access to the luggage compartment is through ari abbreviated fibreglass deck lid.
A four -inch high spoiler molded into the deck lid enhances smooth air fldw over the
vehicle and also serves as a housing for the centre high -mounted "stop lamp.
Looks aren't the only exciting feature of this model, however. Performance -minded
drivers -will find a host of much -desired components to their liking. For starters, there's
a strong -running 5.0 litre V8 equipped with four -barrel carburetion that produces a healthy
155 hp and 240 lbs. -ft. of torque. •
Quick performance with Pontiac 2 $ 2 is assured thanks to the 200-4R four -speed
overdrive automatic transmission. Power is then transmitted to a limited slip differen-.
tial which carries a 3.08:1 gear ratio.
A specific vehicle deserves specific suspension tuning. And that's exactly what 2
2 gets -- roadholding performance. Rally II 15 is 7 wheels mounted with 215/65R15
Eagle GT tires get the power to the pavement. Gas-filled shocks are utilized at all four
corners, matching with 77 N -mm front and 24 N -mm rear coil springs. Refined corner-
ing capabilities result from use of 29 mm front and 16 mm rear stabilizer bars.
Complementing the toned suspension is.a fi"rm 12.7:1 steering ratio controlled by the
driver's grip of a leather -wrapped three -spoke sport wheel with tilt feature.
The blend of sport and luxury comes together inside with cloth -covered bucket seats
up front separated by a convenient centre console. Rally cluster instrumentation including
tachometer, odometer and digital clock keep the driver property irfortned, while an AM/FM
stereo and cassette player with seek and scan features provideentertainment pleasure.
Amon other notable features are air conditioning, cruise control, Tull tinted glass,
dual sport mirrors and power operated windows and door locks.
This new Pontiac 2 • 2. is a no -option car. That is; everything comes standard.
All cars share the same silver primary exterior Dolor, have medium gray lower trim
and two-tone red accent striping around the perimeter. Interiors are also In gray.
