Jazzvox impresses with a. pvening
of "Swing 'n Stuff" at the Livery
BY PAUL HARTMAN
One needn't' have possessed a knowledge
of the music from the swing era to enjoy the
Goderich Little Theatre's presentation of
"Swing 'n Stuff" featuring Jazzvox on Fri-
day and Saturday night at the Livery
Theatre.
But even the most discriminating off ears
would have been duly impressed with per-
formance of the six Goderich area
youngsters as they sang and bantered their
way through art evening of music from the
time when Swing was King."
From the opening number, "Route 66" it
was obvious that Jazzvox -comprised of
Laura, Robin and Craig Wark, Erin and
Baird Robinson with Lori Millian on piano-
was replete with talent..
All five possess rich, full voices that com-
plement each other when combined. The
harmonies, often in five parts, were precise
and stirring.
The group displayed good dynamic

softest of softs to louds that made the rafters
ring, with seemingly little effort. The effect
was aided by a fine sound system and the
capable mixing of Warren Robinson.
Their portion of the program included "T

"Fame" with a powerful solo by .Laura
Wark. Other highlights included an You" and

pella version of "1'l1 Be Seeing You
resounding rendition of the complex
"Rhythm of Life."
All five singers were featured at different
times during the program and each handled
their solo work with vigour and skill. '
Lori Minim, the accompaniest, may not
have been as • noticeable as the other five
members of the group but she played the dif-
ficult swing pieces with apparent ease.
Overall, Jazzvox was very impressive.
Not one wrong note was evident in their en-
tire program and many of the songs were
performed with such verve that they made
the skin tangle.
My only complaint lies in the fact that the
five seemed a little reserved
