Fire destroys Farrell's
The community was very sorry to hear

that Jim and Barbara Farrell of the Pine
River district on Highway 21 had the.
misfortune to lose their barn by fire early
Monday morning. A large number of pigs
and a large number of bales of both hay
and straw in the barn at that time. But
thanks to a quick response 'by the
neighbours and the Ripley Fire Depart-
mellt, the cattle and some pigs were taken
out of the barn.
Recent visitors with Charles and Mayme
Wilkins were Charles' sister and nieces
Jessie Alton and Dorothy and Jane Harris
of Australia; John and JoAnne Hughes and
, their three children, Bronwen, Sara and
Billy and also Barbara and Elizabeth
Wilkins of Paris, Ontario.

week in Kingston visiting friends there. On
the weekend Roddie and Jeannie
Finlayson and their family picked up
Dorothy and went up to Muskoka to attend
a birthday party in honor of Malcolm
Finlayson on his 80th birthday.
Recent visitors with Rhetta MacLennan
was her brother and sister -M -law, Harold
and Peggy Jardine of Harriston, daughter
Couple marks
Mr. and Mrs. Fordyce Clark hosted open
house at the Livery, Goderich on July 12th
for their 50th Anniversary. All their family
were home for this occasion.
They were: Lawrence and Mary Nesbit of
Port Perry, James and Margaret Latimer
of Calgary, Wayne and Caroline Binney of
Calgary, George and Peggy Cla k of La
Ronge Sask., Phillip and Joan Clark of RR5
Goderich, and all their families including 13
grandchildren. About 350 people attented
'this event.
Fordyce and Irene entertained ata family

dinner at the Bedford on July 13th. Guests of
honer were Ellen Johnston and Laura
Philips of Auburn. Ellen and her (late) hus-
band Tom Johnston were married at the
same time and always celebrated this event
together.

farm in Colborne Township to Goderich 15
years ago.

a two-day bus tour of Windsor and
Amherstburg area, visiting many in-
teresting places and also 'enjoying a ferry

Recent visitors with Wellington and Kae
Webster were their two sons, Cecil and
Jim Webster of Waterloo, Murray and
Gertie Henderson of RR 3, Lucknow, and
Charles and Mayme Wilkins.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Mathewman visited in
Minden on the weekend.
George and Finlay MacDonald will be
very busy this week with the wheat getting
ready to be harvestea, and the MacDonald
reunion on August 1. They are also going to
hake a dance at the Community Centre in
Lucknow, in the evening. Everyone is
welcome.
Visiting on the weekend with Barry and
Betty Jones were Mr. and Mrs. Gord
Smith.

boat ride to Boblo Island. They spent Thurs-
day afternoon there visiting the many at-
tractions the island has to offer. ,
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lawlor, Evelyn
Burgess and Dorothy Wilson enjoyed a
delicious smorgasbord dinner at the holm of
Mrs. Marguerite McLean at Vanastra, the
occasion being Mrs. Lawlor's birthday.
Mrs. Jessie Peter and Mrs. Irene Nelson
of Wiarton spent the weekend with Beth
Lansing.
Knox United Church will resume services
on August 4th at 10 a.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley McNall of Welland
spent a few days with Ellen Johnston and
Laura Phillips.
Mrs. James Johnston, the former Annie
Dobie of Wingham called on Mrs. Warner
Andrews and Ellen Johnston and Laura
Phillips recently.
