Victoria Public School honors
volunteers at a special ase b ;Y
During the final week of June, Victoria
School honored its many volunteers at a
special assembly.
In his opening comments, the principal
Bill Linfield, remarked 'how fortunate the
students, teachers and school community
were to have such a great group of
dedicated people regularly help out at the
school. Their commitment was acknowledg-
ed and appreciated.
Teachers took turns introducing some of
the .volunteers and told what they had done
to help. Tasks such as helping children write
or read, creating learning materials, typ-
ing, assisting with sports or special events
and working . with children at learning
centers were mentioned.
Each volunteer was presented with a
V.I•Y. (Very Important Volunteer) cookie.
Special recognition was given to Constable
Poulter, a V.I.P. (Very Important Police of-
ficer), who helped in the values, influences
and .peers program at the school. A brief
reception was held for them following the
assembly.
Victoria School is very fortunate to 'have
the community support for its many educa-
tional ventures. The adult volunteers cer-
tainly add to the quality of those ex-
periences provided for the children. ,
The school used its assembly to express a
hearty thank you to the many volunteers,
who consisted of parents; grandparents,
neighbors and friends, who have become an
essential element within the school.
