Bill Ried is in the business of helping peo-
ple who are plagued by panes.
Window panes, that is. Bill is owner and
operator of Pane Remedies, a store design-
ed to, provide homeowners with every con-
ceivable method of covering a window.
Originally, Bill was unable to locate com-
mercial space in the -Downtown area. In ear-
ly May, he began the business out of his
Goderich home. Luckily, some commercial
space became available' in June and Bill
grabbed the opportunity to open a store in
the core district.
The result was Pane Remedies, a store
unique to the area, located at 32 Newgate
street.
Bill himself is no stranger to the blind
business. He began working as stock boy for
Slats Blinds, a Toronto chain of stores, five
years ago. He worked steadily up through
pane
the hierarchy, with stints in receiving, pur-
chasing, repairs and installation.
With experience in every aspect of the
business, the next logical step was to open a
store of his own. Bill's wife was born and
raised in Goderich and they decided to make
a home for themselves, and his business,
here.
Pane Remedies carries six brand names
of blinds in a variety of styles -woven
woods, verticals, pull shades, bamboo, and
one inch and one-half inch venetian 'blinds.
There is a huge range of prices and
guarantees.
The focus is on service as well as selec-
tion.'Free estimates are available and in-
stallation can be provided for a nominal fee.b
Whatever style your house, Pane
Remedies can provide a clean,
sophisticated look with its large and stylish
selection of blinds.

Grads are our most valuable resources

They're ready! The current crop of Huron
County's major export resource will ship out
over the next couple of months. What a
curious statement you say. You know it is
too early to be talking about beans, beef or
corn; but, our major resource is none of
these. Huron Co.unty's major export
resource, according to the late Professor
-James Scott, Historian, - is brains. •
We have been exporting • brains for
decades.- and doing it well. Huron County is
a significant producer of doctors; lawyers,
writers, technologists, researchers, artists
and business men and women to name but a
few. Over the years, Huron County Parents
and educators have learned haw to eroduce
a quality product for our comity's use. The
formula has proven true as our graduates
compete and find success in their chosen
fields.
Some families and young adults feel

Now the time has come to begin our good-
byes. There is little more we can do without
stifling their initiative and damaging their
emergence into adulthood. We can no longer
prop them up and expect them to stand on
their own feet.
We hope that they will write home ( even
when they don't need money!) We hope that
life will treat them kindly and that the pit-
falls theywill encounter will, at most, leave
them bruised but not broken. We hope `that
they will be content with their lives and that
we can be proud of them.
As parents, we have worked hard to help
them get this far and we can be Content if, as
adults, they make responsible choices and
carry with them the values we have tried to
instill.
So to the graduates of 1986, congratula-

families will be following your progress wi'.h
