It's a miracle we made it through Mr. Hazlitt's incredibly hard tests, Mr. Hooft- man's endless jokes and stories, Mr. Ud- dle's slide presentations on previous science fairs, Mrs. Blake constantly telling us of the wonderful things the card catalogue on do for us, Miss Clynick's gym classes which are always graced with her constant enlightening smile that never seems to turn off, Mr. Tremeer's many word finds .and endless quizes and last but not least Mr. Cameron's complicated math problems and trying to make us great musicians by giving us blisters and numb fingers teaching us how to play the ukuleles and recorders. But, without these distinguishing marks it would cry have been dreadfully boring. We're making the big important step on September 2, 1986. We're going to attack Grade 9. We're moving ahead and leaving behind the familiar routines and the securi- ty of knowing what's going to happen next and also knowing that the teachers will always be there for us whenever we need them. This chapter in our lives is coming to a close and faster than we think a new chapter will begin. We're matured a great deal in.these past nine year and our teachers have readied us to handle frightening new experiences and take advantage of golden opportunities which lay ahead, and because they have helped make us independent people, able to accept responsibilities, co-operate with and respect one another, to meet and accept new challenges set before us with enthusiasm,, zeal and of course a certain amount of fear. Who knows, because of all the wonderful advice, guidance and friendship• you have given us, we might do great things like becoming the next Prime Minister or the person to find a cure for cancer, but we will never forget those who helped us through the early stages of our lives. Although we have to take that frightening step into high school wher0l1 the halts will look exactly the same, where the teachers will probably never know our names, fin- ding your way to each class undoubtedly getting more lost at everYiturn, and the pro- blem of trying to open those supposedly, fan- tastic contraptions they call lockers., I just know well have heaps off fun, but never will we forget our public school years. Recalling the good times and the bad, &hhe wins and the losses, the disappointments and the triumphs, and the great many ac- complishments we have attained over the years. They were all a very important. part of growing fhp and we did it all at Brookside Public School and in the years to come I'll be very proud to say I did so. Although this is indeed a joyous occasion, it is also a sad ane, for unfortunately we're not all going to the same high school. I'm sure in speaking on behalf of all the class, I, would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the Board of Educa- tion, Teachers, Principals, our Friends and especially last but not least our Parents and Families for their efforts and for giving us the determination to make it through those final projects, speeches, assignments_, and all important tests. I'm sure that in the future, we will make many new friends and set new goals for ourselves. It's a past we'll never forget and the memories that will remain with us I know we'll treasure them forever and pro- bably find ourselves telling our children and grandchildren stories of our public school years. We have done a lot of growing up this past and final year and I hope in the years to come we'll make you proud of us. We have also learned education is important and should never be taken for granted. So,' until we meet again whether it be in that famous McDonalds Restaurant in Goderich or halfway around the world, I'll never forget my friends and my years at Bt ookside Public School. , Goodbye for now and good luck in the future.
