St. Mary's grads should
make things happen,
BY CHRIS O'NEILL.
ST. MARY'S SEPARATE SCHOOL
We're from St. Mary's and proud of it!
These are words and thoughts that will re-
main with us long after this evening is over.
Parents, teachers, special guests and
fellow graduates; 1 am very honored to
speak to you this evening on behalf of"the
1986 graduating class of St. Mary's School.
We, the graduating class.of '86 have come
to a turning point in our lives. lip to this
point we have been closely guided and
monitored by our parents and teachers in
most things we have done. They have work-
ed together to prepare us for this stage in
our lives ,and we thank them for it..
Even though we are leaving the halls of St.
Mary's, our thoughts of it are fond ones. We
have worked hard but also.had'lots -of fun.
We have been a class that has represented
our school well in sports events, public
speaking, science fairs and school concerts.
We've also enjoyed tnany school trips in-
cluding our most recent one to the Tpronto
museum and Blue Jays game.
Our teachers during our elementary years
have played a very important role in getting
us to this stage in bur lives. Through all this
they manage to face each<day with a smile'
as they greet us in .the halls They have
made St. Mary's a pleasant place to be:
We are especially sorry to be saying good-
bye to Miss Stemp, aur home room teacher,
who I'm sure at tinges thought that there.
would .be no challenge left after we're gone:
Looking ahead to high school is a very ex -
.citing thought. What will it be like? Are we
really ready? Will we make the right
decisions? .
I'm sure that we \will individually be able
to answer these questions as we have been
well prepared for this next stage in our
a lives.
In closing I would once again like to thank
Father Hardy, Mrs.' Hackton, Mr. McDade,
our teachers andespecially our parents for
their guidance, owledge and ,patience.
To my fellow classmates, I would like' to
say good luck and leave you with this
thought: There are three kinds of people in
this world; those who make things happen,
those who watch what happens and those
who wonder what happened: It is people who
make things happen who get the most out off
life. Remember, the choice is yours.
