Teachers are our greatest friends, says grad
BY KATHY COKE
'HOLMESVILLE PUBLIC SCHOOL
Mr. Kane, teachers, parents, honored`
guests and fellow graduates; This year was
my first year at Hohnesville Public School,
and it was the best! I am. glad that I have
been able to tell my friends from my other
school how great this school is.
Through all my years of schooling, and I
have been to three differnt schools, I. have
never felt so at home in a school, and so fast.
Everyone gave me a warm welcome.
Through this year I have made friends
with very special people. The disappointing
thing is,..aome of us have togo to Clinton
high school and some to Goderich high
school. I think that is what makes this
graduation so tear dropping because special
friends are being separated. Although in
high school you will find friends, you will
have to make time to visit your old friends.
If you look around the room you will see
some happy faces and some sad faces. The
happy faces are saying, "Hooray! We are
finally out of public school." The sad faces
are saying, "Goodbye, because we are leav-
ing friends," but the greatest friends are the
teachers who have helped us through this
Grade 8 year. They have been there to help
with the difficult work and have left the easy
work for us. Some of these lessons I am try-
ing to learn and remember.
Now I would like to quote a few lines from
' a poem, just to help us on our way.
True worth is in being, not seeming
In doing, each day that goes by,
Some little good - not indreaming
Of great things to do, by and by.
We get back our mete as we measure
We cannot do wrong and feel right
Nor can we give pain and gain pleasure
For justice avenges each slight.
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time.
' I thank you.
