Botanical Gardens at MacKay Centre at 8

of applied blocks to be assembled as quilts
and displayed as a permanent exhibit at the
Huron County Pioneer Museum. The theme
encompasses 35 years of the museum and
should pertain to artifacts. Fabric supplied
by the museum. For information and ap-

SATURDAY, JULY 5- A pork -beef barbecue
will be held at the Dungannon Senior Citizen
Centre at 5 p.m. Adults _$6, children under

writers with more than 20 plays to his credit.
Among his best known works for the stage
are The Killdeer (Massey and Governor
Greneral's Award in 1960), The Donnelly
Trilogy (1974 Chalmers Award for The St.
Nleksias Hotel) and Colours in the nark;
which was commissioned by the Stratford
Festival and premiered in 1967. In 1975, Mr.
Reaney received the Order of Canada.
Allan Stratton: August 9.
A Stratford' native who began his
theatrical career as an actor, Allan Stratton
has become a highly successful playwright.
His produced works include Joggers, Nurse
Jane Goes to Hawaii and Rexy ( winner of
the Dora Mavor Move Award, the
Chalmers Award and the Canadian Authors'
Association Award for Best Play in 1981).
His latest play, Papers, was presented
recently at Tarragon Theatre and
nominated for the Dora Mavor Moore
Award.
Sky Gilbert: August 10.
Sky Gilbert is Artistic Director of Buddies
in Bad Times Theatre, a company dedicated

Janis Rapoport: July 12
Founding Editor of Ethos Magazine, Janis
Rapoport's poetry, plays and critical
writings have appeared in numerous
magazines, anthologies and newspapers
and have been broadcast on the CBC. Her
life and work is profiled on a program in TV
Ontario's Canadian Literature Series. Her
published works include Jeremy's Dream
(poetry),, Winter Flower (poetry),
Dreamg�frls (drama) and Imaginings
(poetry).
Judith Thompson: July 13,
Judith Thompson's first play The
Crackwalker was a finalist in both the Clif-
ford E. Lee playwriting competition and the
National Repertory Theatre Play Awards in
1980. Her second play, White Biting Dog,
was produced at Tarragon Theatre in 1984
and won the Governor General's Award this
year. Ms. Thompson recently . received a
play commission from the Shaw Festival
and her dynamic readings have been well
received across Canada.
Paul Quarrington: July 19.
Paul Quarrington is a member of the "45
Below Group", a program designed to
showcase the energy of the "after Atwood"
generation. Recently named one of
Canada's 10 best young fiction writers, Paul
Quarrington is a novelist, musician, sport-
swriter, playwright and songwriter. His
published novels to date include The Ser-
vice, The Life of Hope and Home Game

Michael Cook: July 26.
An actor and director of note, Michael
Cook has written extensively for both radio -
and stage. Among his best known plays are
Colour the Flesh the Colour of Dust, Quiller,
The Gayden Chronicles and Jacob's Wake
which will be presented at the National Arts
Centre this winter. Mr. Cook currently is
working on a new play commissioned by the
, Stratford Festival. It will be workshopped in
Stratford later this season.
William Needles: July.27.
Veteran Stratford actor William Needles
will read from the works of one of. his
favourite poets, Robert Firist (1874-1963).
Frost won -several Pulitzer Prizes for poetry
during his distinguished career and is
regarded as a unique voice in 20th Century
literature.
