Though it will not contribute a cash dona-

tables for a strawberry social on July 1 to
the group of Goderich people travelling, to
Haiti on July 5.
"The' strawberry social goes on every
year at The Livery parking lot and there's
no problem lending the tables," said Mayor
Eileen Palmer.
But, Coun. Jim Searls said he saw a
problem.
"There's going to be a lot of people up
town that day and they're going to want a
place to eat lunch," he said.
Council agreed to lend the tables and in-
form the Livery out of courtesy in case of a
conflict. The town is leasing the 'Livery's
parking lot for the next five years.
A letter from Connie Osborn requesting
the tables said the group still needs to raise
$1000 for its trip.

On Monday, June 9, Brookside staff and
many former Brookside teachers met at
lunch 'to honor Don Cameron on his
retirement.
Cameron taught first in the one room
school at Belfast and came to Brookside
when it opened in 1967. Since then he has
been vice principal, has taught Grade 8,
taught music throughout the school and
coordinated the Brookside concerts each
year.
To the tune of "Lucille", the staff sang
verses composed by custodian Herb
Wilkins, resident -poet at Brookside. Prin-
cipal Don Tremeer spoke of Cameron's con-
tributions to the school and of his apprecia-
tion for his help. He was presented with a
gold-plated exacto knife (a reminder of one
he always carries in his pocket) and a watch
and money clip.
Cameron thanked those present and
reviewed some memories of his teaching
career. Former principals of Brookside,
Angus MacLennan, Bill Black and Gary
Jewitt were present and added their con-
gratulations to Cameron on his retirement.
He will certainly be missed at Brookside
but we all wish him health and happiness for
many years to come.
Howard Blake, secretary at Brookside,
has been do hospital in London following
surgery. We wish him a swift recovery.
Sandra Machan of Brussels is supplying in
the office for the month of June.
