Robertson Public School students got a taste of what Expo 86 might

Ten women will vie for crown
The Port Albert 150th Committee require
the use of approximately 50 picnic•tables for
the weekend of Aug. 1, 2, 3 and 4. Would all
people willing to loan their tables please call

A car rally sponsored by the Port Albert
150th is on Sunday, June 15. Starting point is
Petrie's`Store at 1:30 p.m. The entry fee, of
$5 includes lunch.
On Saturday, June 21, a CKNX Barndance
will be held at W.G. Thompson's and Sons,
Port Albert. The bar opens at 7. From 8 to
9:30 entertainers from CKNX will perform
and Miss Port Albert will be crowned. A
dance will follow with music provided by
D.i.'s. Food is available.
The Miss Port Albert contestants and
their sponsors are: Rhonda Burt - Larry
Park Electric; Mia Dalton - Kingsbridge
Reality; Mary Lynn Doherty - Petrie's

Marg and Bill Balkwill are spending a few
days at their cottage in Port Albert. During
the winter they spent three weeks in Hawaii
and five weeks in Florida.
While in Hawaii they visited Pearl Har-
bour and the Arizona memorial.

In Maui an interesting side trip was spent
in the bay watching the hump back whales
which come down from Alaska to spend the
winters in the warm waters of the bay.
Kay Fennell; Isobel Gutcher and Marg
and Bill Balkwill spent last week in Van-
couver and Expo 86. While there they visited
Victoria and the beautiful Butcharts
Gardens. They returned by a bus trip
through the mountains to Calgary, visited
Banff and Lake Louise.
Darlene Bauer was a patient in the Alex-
andra and Marine Hospital and has return-
ed home again.
Norval and Ruth Anderson have opened
their cottage "Rivers Bend" for the sum-
mer. The Andersons spent April in Florida
and while there, had visitors fromPort
Albert, Helen Gardener and also Tom and
Anne Livingstone.
Communion was observed at Christ
Church on Sunday, the Service being con-
ducted by the Rev. Robert Crocker at 2 p.m.
During the week members of the ACW at-
tended the spring Deanery at St. Peter's
Lucknow.
The guest speaker, Sister Thelma Ann
from the Sisterhood of St. John the Divine in
Toronto showed slides and told of the three
homes under the care of this Mission Work.
The Fall Deanery will be held in Walkerton
on Oct. 7.
The ACW met in the Church Wednesday
morning and the project of the day was spr-
ing cleaning of the basement. The meeting
was held later with"plans being made for a
wedding reception and on June 28 a garage
sale in the basement of the church.
Bessie Bellinger read the secretary's
report and Cora Cook gave the Treasurer's
Report. New windows have been made and
installed in the basement of the Church and
eaves for the outside of the building.
Bessie Bellinger, Margaret Young and
Alma Black attended the Deanery meeting;
Road work is being carried on in the
village.and.some .beautifying is being done,
Plans are going ahead for the 150th weekend
in August.
Several folk are busy working on the
editing of the history book of Port Albert,
orders are being taken at the Petrie Store.

There is a contest for the best appearing
gardens, so many folk are truly putting on
an extra effort for this event.
Local teamsters attend horse pull
Several local teamsters and horse en-
thusiasts attended a horse pull at the farm
of Ken and Judy Shortreed of Walton.
Friends and neighbors gathered at Henry
and Bernice Drennan's farm Saturday night
for a stag and doe in honor of their daughter
Donna and Stuart Alton who will be married
June 14.
Bob and Jean Simpson and Donald and
Edith Simpson left Friday for a short trip to
Sault Ste. Marie to visit with relatives. They
also stopped at Milford Bay to visit with Bob
and Jean's daughter and son-in-law Gary
and Jay Kaye and family.
The Kintail School is open again but not
for school. Ralph Fillmore .of the Amberlei
area opened the school June 7 as a store for

crafts, antiques and collectables. The store
is called "Duckies" and offers a large varie-
ty of crafts made by people in Huron and
Bruce Counties. The crafts range from
quilts and baby clothes to Christmas decora-
tions and wall hangings.

The informal display encourages people
to browse around freely.
Mr. Fillmore plans to have the store open
just on weekends until the end of June. After
it will be open Monday to Saturday 10-6 p.m.
with his daughter Heidi operating the store.
Several people from the area attended the
CWL Charity Auction of Sacred Heart
Parish in Wingham. They had a successful
auction despite the weather. There were
over 150 buyers and they raised close to
$5,000. This money is being used to help in
the construction of a new church.
