Rob Sherwood will readily concede that
risks are an integral part of making a
business viable.
And while he's willingly taken risks over
the years to build his tour bus operation into
a thriving business, Sherwood admits that
his latest venture is "a big gamble."
The big gamble was the purchase of
$260,000 wide body luxury motor coach for
use by the descriminating traveller.
Whether or not local bus users will pay for
the luxury is where the element of risk
enters.
"In 1978 we bought our first highway,
coach for $120,000 and that was a gamble but
we tried to keep up with the times," he ex-
plained. "The success of this bus depends
upon the support but a service industry has
to offer everything.
"We've made a commitment to this com-
munity and we want to be a full-service
company. People in Huron -Perth have
always settled for second hand. It's our
compay's biggest gamble but we have to
find out if it is feasible to run this kind of
coach in a low density area."
Six inches wider than a normal motor
coach, the wide-body offers customers
European styling that includes designer
fabrics, individual stereo, air and lighting
controls and doors on the luggage racks. In
fact, it's made to look like the interior of an
airplane.
Manufactured in Winnipeg the bus was
ordered in December and put in use for a
trip to New York City just last week. Used
.mainly for extended bus trips, Sherwood
thinks his clientelle will appreciate the com-
forts of the new coach.

Elston in an awkward position.
Under the Public Hospitals Act, hospitals
are required to have a certain structure and
if this does not exist, hospital boards are re-
quired to report the situation to the minister
of health.
Hospital chiefs of staff are responsible for
ensuring quality, orderly health care in the
hospitals and if they resign it will cause an
administrative nightmare.
The OMA has called a meeting for next
Wednesday to assess its position and con-
sider further actions, including shutting
down emergency wards on a rotating basis.
