DOES EXETER NEED A. MUNICI-
PAL ELECTION ON THE FIRST
• OF 'JANiTARYg
Now is about the time that the
Municipal agitator +endeavors to get
in his _work., Ele is much like the
small boy on hallowe'en, who likes
to play dirty little tricks on his
neighbors., It matters not how faith-
fully a councillor' or reeve may have
served the town—Away with him I
I ,have no brief for reeve or 'council-
lor; neither favors 'to ask, nor axes
to grind., But the present council is.
I. think. as fairly good and represen-
tative'one, and looks after the best
interests iof the town. We. pray the heavenly Father to

it their" bounden duty to abuse and
vilify the then councils . Now there
is no sense in this.. The councils of
the past find the council of the pre-
sent have +endeavored to act for the
best interests of the town and have
given a great areal of time, and; a
great deal or 'energy in looking after
the same.
There was no election last year,
because of what was considered un-
necessary expense in these rear .times,
and rightly so.
If there were no need of en elect -
last year: what need of, an election
in January;
The council that is now serving us
will, in all ;probability serve us as
well, or even better then any coun-
cil we can creed
There ere 'problems to which our
present council has given much time
and study, with tvhielr new men would
not be nearly so ..conversant, .Hydro

HYDRO NOTES
The hydro gang are pushing the'
work on the town system.,, The poles
are •about all up and. are being braced
where necessary, and the arms put
up for harrying the wires
Figuresidon't count for much very
often. We have frequently stated
the size of the hydro sub-station';wars
to be 17x22 feet and yet most of our
citizens are suprised at the size of it
now ithat it is nearly completed.. It
is a new vest-pocket edition, small
but we hope mighty.
'Crediton, Dashwood, Hensel' and
Zurich ,are all interested in securiag
hydro potter and are anxious to se-
cure the necessary information( and
estimates, The hydro engineer" are
very ,busy men just at present 'Mad it
is almost necessary to grab their coat-
tails and hang on.
The hydro low tension ging are
some landscape artists.They are cer-
tainly trimming the trees along the
side of the street the wires are to
run. It will be up to the next year's
council to trim the trees on 'the op-
posite side. It will add to the beauty
of our streets, help in the distribution
of light and assist in keep, rig the
roads in better condition:
There has 'been considerable specu-
lation. as to when :hydro will be ready
to be turned on Well it's a safe !bet
that hydro will be here before many:;
of our citizens are ready for it. We'.
are informed that it will...be ready;
about the end ori December `or the
first ~reek in January.' The town
system will be ready, the 'delay ,being
on the high voltage line ,between Exe-
ter and Liman.
