country Playhouse iiffers several shows
for theyoung and the young at heart
The end of the school year is fast upon us
and with it comes the usual cry, "Mom I
don't have anything,to do."
The Huron Country Playhouse in Grand
Bend is proud to again offer quality enter-
tainment for children.
On June 20 at 2:30 p.rn. the National Tap
Dance of Canada will be at the Playhouse
for one performance of Oliver Button is a
Sissy.
Not only does this show have music and
dance but it delivers a duo message: Fan-
tasy is important in our lives, and talent has
no gender or age restriction. In addition the
talent and choreography of lead, William
Orlowski is sure to delight audiences of all
ages.
On Aug. 19, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Theatre
Beyond Words (Better known as' The 'Potato
People) will be at the Playhouse to amuse
children and adults alike. Internationally
acclaimed, the show has characters that
everyone can identify with: Momma, the
compulsive organizer; Poppa, who tries to
do as little as possible and Nancy Potato, a
four-year-old whose innocence captures
everyones hearts.
Also planned for children this season is a
Video Workshop, Aug. 16, 23 and 30 for
children aged 12 to 14, where the kids will
create their own video soap opera combin-
ing video and theatre mediums.

Talented, area young people showed up
for auditions held in London and Grand
Bend'in mid-March, and because of special
consideration by the Actors' Equity Union,
the Playhouse will be able to offer many of
these interested"stars to be" a place in
the 15th Anniversary Season.
A chance to be a part of the professional
companies of. CAROUSEL and ANNIE,
will not only be a treat for these up and
coming actors, but will also be a special
treat for the audience. v
In addition to those who have already
auditioned, the Playhouse would be
delighted if area high-school students, able
to carry a tune, and able to attend every
performance (June 24 to July 12) would
join the cast of CAROUSEL by singing
onstage during the last scene - "high-
school graduation".

Business was
brisk at box
Blyth - business is booming at the Blyth
Festival Box, Office these days! As of April
30, the number of groups purchasing tickets
was double the figures for the same period
in 1985. Sales of vouchers were up nearly 50
percent. Twice as many seats have been
sold for each •perfortriance as at this time
last year; one matinee performance of
"Drift" by Rex Deverell is already com-
pletely sold out and most other matinees are
filling up quickly.
Brenda Doner, general manager, at-
tributes the increase to three main factors:
the public enjoyed the 1985 season and want
to book early for 1986; advance information
on the season was made available to
members of the Festival, and to groups;
and, of course, the price of the tickets is still
one of the best values around. (Buying
vouchers makes the individual ticket price
even more reasonable: $7 each instead of $8
and $10. • From May, 31 to
September 13, Box Office hours will be Mon-
day to Saturday, 9 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. on perfor-
