summer's activities
Eighty-five people sat down to a barbecue
supper at the final meeting of the year for
the Huron Chapel Missionary Church Kids'
Klub on May 29. Following supper the Kids
choir of 40 voices sang several selections, in-
cluding one of Fanny Crosby's hymns, about
whom they have been studying.
Attractive wooden shields., appropriately
inscribed, were presented to those who
scored the highest in points awarded for at-
tendance, the bringing of others, memoriza-
tion of the books of the Bible and Bible
verses.
Those in the preschool and Kindergarten
division who earned shields were Amie
Scott, Melissa Campbell and Virginia
Bodges. Primary division winners were An-
drea, Lawlor and Sherry Baan. Jason Baan,
Stephen Campbell, and Robert Campbell
were Junior winners. Intermediate winners
were Susan Dobie, Alison Chamney, Cathy
Nesbitt, Christie Bricker, and Kimberly
Baan.
Susan Dobie was the top scorer with 8710
points. Those who did not achieve the
minimum number of points for a shield were
awarded posters.
A fllin, The Penelope Gang, was shown,
after which Pastor Carne dismissed the
gathering with prayer.
While the weekly meetings of the Klub are
concluded, summer activities continue, the
first of which is a hike led by Pastor Carne
scheduled for Saturday, June 7. Weekly
baseball games will also be held and a Kids'
Krusade will be held July 14-18 with Hester
Dugan.
Kids' Klub leaders for this year have been
Dianne Baan, Jim and Marilyn Campbell,
and Debra Rodges.
Congratulations go out to Mr. and Mrs.
Stewart Ball on the occasion of their -50th
Wedding Anniversary on Friday, 'June 6.
Marjorie McDougall attended the 19th An-
nual Westminster weekend for the UCW
held at the Westminster College London.
KNOX UCW •
The UCW Annual Church cleaning of Knox
United was held on May 28 with 18 members
AUBURN
present. A short business period was held
with Mrs. Peter Verbeek in charge. Plans
wer.e made for lunch after the church ser-
vice "on Sunday when Colborne Centennial
Choir ' presented their music. Discussion
took place about new aluminum screen
doors for the back Sunday School rooms and
_Mrs. Robert Arthur is to take the report to
the Board of Stewards.
WALKERBURN CLUB
The Waikerburn Club was held at the
home of Mrs. Keith Lapp. This was a special
meeting with Mrs. C. Merrill of Clinton
demonstrating the tying of scarves which
was certainly enjoyable.
Mrs. Len Archambault and Mrs. K. Kib-
ble and the hostess served a delicious lunch'
and a social time was enjoyed.
KNOX UNITED CHURCH
The morning service of Knox United
Church was conducted by minister Gary
Shuttleworth. The service opened with the
Colborne Centennial Choir singing "The
Lord Is My Shepherd", accompanied by
Mrs. Barry Millian at the piano.
There was a time for children and they
went to their Sunday School rooms with
teachers, Margaret Bakker, Karen Bakker,
Sharon Ramsey and Bernice Gross.
The minister chose for his sermon, The
Dead Church.
The offering was received by Teade Bak-
ker, Lawrence Plaetzer, Brian Ramsey and
Peter Verbeek.
KAIDX UNITED CHURCH
Mr. G• Shuttleworth conducted the
morning service at Knox United Church.
The senior choir sang Blessed Assurance,
under the direction of Mrs. Barry Million.
The minister chose for his sermon, The Cold
Church. The offering was received by Peter

Hoimesvuie woman sees bluebird

HOLMESVILLE - Worship, Service was
held Sunday morning at Holmesville United
Church with the Senior Choir leading in the
Ministry of music. Rev.. J. Bechtel was in
charge of the service.
' On June 8 the Sunday School Anniversary
will be held with the Rovers of Clinton talk-
ing on their trip to New Zealand. •
The Enterprising Seniors will meet at the
Community Centre in Holmesville at 8 p.m.
The Enterprising Seniors were invited to
attend the Seniors Dessert Euchre June 11
at 12:30 p.m. at the Stanley Township
Complex.
The Annual Dressed Pork and Salad Sup-
per of the Holmesville United Church will be
held June 5, starting at 5 p.m.
The Recreation Committee of Goderich
Township is looking for volunteers to help
with Minor baseball. Please call Jack May
Lew at 482-3173 or Wayne Tebbiett at
482-3503. Several volunteers are needed.
Barb Bettles reports she" saw a pair of blue
birds on Highway 21, the first she has seen in
a very long time.
The Enterprising Seniors met at the Com-
munity Centre in Holmesville last Wednes-
day afternoon. Bert McCreath was in
charge and Charlotte Norman read the
minutes of the last meeting.
Several of the seniors went for a walk in
Everett Mcllwain's bush where they found a
cut path made for them to walk. Everyone
who went enjoyed the trip.. Other members
who stayed at the hall played cards and
shuffleboard. The social committee made
hot dogs, salad, and goodies for the lunch.
Alice Porter made a note of thanks to
Everett McIlwain for his work in the bush
for the walk.
Don't forget the bus trip on June 25 at
10:15 a.m. with pick up in Holmesville.
On June 10 The Enterprising Seniors go to
Huronview for a supper at 5:45 p.m. Those
wanting to see the afternoon show may go at
1:30 p.m. and listen to the Fog Horns of
Goderich and stay for the meal.
On June 18 the Enterprising Seniors are
putting on the Birthday Party at Huronview
at 1:30 p.m.
