An overnight visitor with Don and Lee
Shetler was their son-in-law Don Kingdon
from Castlegar, British Columbia.
Mrs. John Linton (Karen Dawson) St.
Albert, Alberta, has been visiting her
mother Mr's. K.K. Dawson, and father - con-
fined to Goderich Hospital this past week.
Visiting the Roberts family at the manse
this weekend was Karen's mother Mrs. Vi-
vienne ' Earl and neice Jennifer Earl of
. Melrose Park, Illinois.
Rev. Robert Roberts has been at the
United Church Conference in Sarnia. Sun-
day morning's service was held by Dianne
Park, assisted by the youth group and
Explorers.

THIS WEEK
Marie Park is a patient in University
Hospital in London since being admitted on
Sunday. Brad is staying in Goderich with his
sister Pat and Gary Johnston.
Winners at the Seniors euchre on Wednes-
day evening were: high lady - Louise
Brindley; low lady - Marie Park; High man
- Raymond Haggit and low man - Tim
McNee. There were 12 tables in play.
Jim and Margaret Errington, Elsie and
Roger Pannabecker, Elsie's son Brian Dyck
and Father Simon Schroder of Abbotsford,
B.C. visited at Niagara Falls over the
Holi day weekend and called on Moses J.
and Ella Shetler and family at South
Dayton, New York. Elsie's father has left
for home via rail, visiting relatives in Win-
nipeg, Manitoba.
Mel Jones has been a patient in Wingham
Hospital this past week. Also hospitalized is
K.K. Dawson at Alexandra and Marine in
Goderich.

Lochalsh people go on fishing trip
Finlay MacDonald, his son George Mac-
Donald of Ashfield township, Finlay
MacLellan and Brad Sinclair of Kitchener
spent a few days at Lake Panache, north of
Sudbury, for their annual fishing trip. They
all arrived home safely Tuesday evening.
They found the weather cold and the fish
were not biting either.
Rhetta MacLennan had a number. of her
grandchildren with her on the weekend.
Visiting were, Timmy, Roddy, Shawn and
Cindy MacLennan of Goderich, children of
the late Eldon MacLennan; Colin MacLen-
nan of Agincourt, son of George MacLen-
nan; Tommy and Frank MacLennan of Kin-
cardine, sons of Finlay MacLennan and
Virginia MacLennan, of Halifax, Nova
Scotia, daughter of George MacLennan.
Visiting with Dorothy (D.A.) MacLennan
was her sister, Kathie Sutherland, her
daughter, Peggy (Bubbles) Heffernan of
London and her son, Finlay MacLennan of
Kitchener.
Margie MacDonald had her brother-in-
law Donald McKinnon and his son Patrick
McKinnon of Paris visit with her on the
weekend while Finley was away on his an-
nual fishing trip.
Mayme Wilkins has been quite busy with
her greenhouses these last few weeks, get-
ting her seedlings and plants ready for the
gardens and flower beds.
Betty Jones was in London on Tuesday,
and while in the city she visited with her
parents in Dorchester and Barry's mother
in St. Marys.

Dave and Christine (Freeman) are pleased
to announce the arrival of their wee son,
Mathew David, on May 17, 1986, weighing in
at 6 lbs. 14 ozs. Proud grandparents are Dick
and Lois Freeman, Goderich and Mrs. Doris

BY-LAW NUMBER 22
A by-law to regulate the use of water for gardening and other purposes in the Town of
Goderich, passed on October 9, 1980.
WHEREAS by virtue of the provisions contained in The Public Utilities Act, R.S.A.
1970. Chapter 390. Section 12, o municipal corporation may pass by -lows for
regulating, among other things. the time, manner, extent and nature of the supply by
the works. the building or person to which and to whom water shall be furnished and
every other matter or thing related to or connected therewith in order to secure to
the inhabitants of the municipality a continued and abundant supply of pure and
wholesome water;
AND WHEREAS • pursuant to Section 41, Sub -section 1 of the said Act, where a

that are by the Act conferred on a municipal corporation shall be exercised by the
commission;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed desirable to regulate the hours and conditions under
which water shall be supplied for the purpose of watering lawns and other areas
within the Town of Goderich and to provide for offences for contravention of such
regulations;
NOW THEREFORE The Public Utilities Commission of the Town of Goderich enacts as
follows:
1 (a) No person being the owner or tenant or occupant of property shall permit water
from the municipal water system to be used for the purposes of washing, watering or
irrigating any lawn, garden, landscaped area, asphalt area, concrete area, or any
other area of such property;
(b) No person having the apparent care and control of property shall permit water
from the municipal water system to be used for the purposes of washing, watering or
irrigating any lawn, garden, landscaped area, asphalt area, concrete area, or any
other area of such property;
(c) For the purposes of section 1(a), "owner" shall be deemed to include persons who
are shown as such on the then current assessment rolls for the Town of Goderich, or
persons who are registered owners of property as disclosed In the records of the Land
Registry Office.
2 This by-law shall be deemed not to prohibit the otherwise lawful use of water from
the municipal water system during the months of January to May, both inclusive. and
October to December both Inclusive in any calendar year.
3 During the months of June, July, August and September in any year, this by-law
shall be deemed not prohibit the otherwise lawful use of water from the municipal
water system as follows:
(a) Water may be used for all lawful purposes with respect to properties which Ile
entirely to the east of air imaginary line drawn from the intersection of the centre
tine of North Street with the northerly boundary of the Town of Goderich; thence
southerly along the centre line of North Street to its intersection with Court House
Square; thence southerly along the southerly production of the centre line of North
Street of its intersection with the northerly point of the centro line of South Street;
thence southerly along the centre line of South Street to its intersection with the
southerly boundary of the Town of Goderich, but only during the hours of'6 p.m. to 9
p.m. local time Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. local time
Sunday in each week;
(b) Water may be used for all lawful purposes with respect to properties which lie
entirely to the west of the imaginary line described in section 3(a) but only during the
hours of 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 11
a•m. local time Sunday to each week.
4 Notwithstanding Section 1 the commission, or its authorized officer, may by special
permit. permit the use. of water from the municipal water system for all otherwise
lawful purposes on such terms and conditions as the Commission or Its authorized
officer deems advisable. Each of the Chairman, Vice -Chairman. Manager and
Secretary of the Commission is deemed to be an authorised officer within the
meaning of this by -low. Special permits will be in a form similar to Chet In attached
Schedule '°A" which forms a part of this by -low.
3 Notwithstanding Sections 2. 3 and 4 of this by -low, in the event of a fire to which the
Town of Goderich Fire Department is called, no person being theowner,tennotification shall,r
occupant, or having the apparent care and control of property. uP
permit water from the municipal water system to be used for the purposes of washing,
watering or irrigating any lawn, garden, landscaped area. asphalt area, concrete
area, or any other arse of such property.
6 This by-law shall be deemed not to apply to The Municipal Corporation of the Town
of Goderich.
7 Anyone who contravenes this by-law is guilty of an offence and is liable on
conviction to a fine of not More than 300 dollars.
8 fay -law No. 19 Of The Public Utilities Commission of the Town of Goderich passed on
the 16th day of June, 1978 is hereby repealed save with respect to proceedings which
have been commenced under 8y -law No. 19 prior to fills date of final passage of this
by-law.
9 This by-law may be referred to as "The Watering Control Illy -law".
10 Thle blf-law shall Poke offset from and after the date of its final passage.
