Club president and organizer, Doug Brindley, welcomed members and guests and presented trophies to the two round robin level winners. The winner of Level 1 was Bob Dick, and the winner for Level 2 was John Crawford. Two additional trophies - for the playoff winners of both levels - are yet to be awarded. At the time of reporting, the finalists are ready to compete in their first game. Names of the finalists are give16 below. During the speeches that followed, special thanks were given to Doug Brindley for organizing this past year's session and , to Walter Gottschalk, the club's scoremaster. The club will be slightly re -organized for the 1986/1987 session. Bob Dick, Walter Gottschalk and Mark Dunsbier will ensure the club's continuation as a recreational group and welcome all regular members and newcomers to the first meeting in the fall. Final results of the playoff games will be reported as soon as possible. Current play- off standings of the Goderich Chess Club are as follows: LEVEL 1- SEMI-FINALS A - Dennis Little versus Mark Dunsbier -1. Drawn game, 2. Mark Dunsbier, 3. Mark Dunsbier. The Ontario Joint Fiction/Biography Reserve (OJFR/OJBR) received $97,000 towards the creation of a database of its holdings. The program encourages libraries to , band together, to strengthen reciprocal borrowing arrangements through local • automation projects. APSL assists smaller community libraries serving populations of under 50,000 with automation projects such as database creation and cir- culation control. "These programs will greatly enhance the services of Ontario community libraries." Dr. Munro said. "The information needs of our society are changing and we want to keep in step with the times."
