Friendship is theme
at Brookside Concert

Brookside Spring concert took place on
Wednesday evening with a capacity crowd

The Primary Choir opened the concert as
they came up the aisle to the stage singing a
round about "Friendship", the theme of
the evening.
Some of the older students presented a
gymnastic routine under the leadership of
Miss Clynick.
Mrs. Blanchette's Kindergarten two class
presented "Friends on the farm" as they
sang songs based on the farm with accom-
panying actions and sound effects.
Miss Mather's Grade 1 and Mrs. Tebbutt's
Grade 3-4 classes cooperated to put on, "The
Friendly Train", based on the story "The
Little Engine that Could." Several children
took speaking parts before the microphone
while others formed the choir and the trains.
Daniel Green sang a solo part.
Two by Two's was presented by Mrs.
Young's Grade 1, Mrs. Graham's Grade 4
and Mr. Liddle's Grade' 6. Linda Hayden
was announcer, Joel Wright was Noah and
also a rock guitarist with Warren Andrew.
The other students formed the choir or the
dancing group. •

Special thanks went to Don Cameron who
coordinates the acts and has such
marvellous ideas for stage props and
lighting. The 'audience joined in giving a

standing ovation tor Mr. Cameron who has
resigned this year.
Both Grade 2 classes have had two
visitors this week. Dave Dawson from
Lucknow Co-op came to talk about farm
safety, and Mr. Spurr from Lands and
Forests came to talk about animals in the
area.
The Alphabet has just about completed
our rabbit and animal theme, and the class
is -ready to say "Rabbits" on May 1: Do you
know why? -
Erin Schultz .and Tony Stecca'have been
the "Special Me".
Both Grade 1 classes went to the
Children's Museum in London:They saw the
Dinosaur section and the "Street Where we
Live".
Mrs. Worsell's Grade 5 class is working on
a Famous People Unit. They are doing
research in the library and studying
biographical selections.
They have written biographies about each
'other and they are now interviewing staff
members to write their biographies.
Mrs. Young's Grade 1, class is learning
about frac�i.ons and talking about halves of
things. They are enjoying their yellow
reader,"Sunshine".
There was a record hop on Monday for
Grades/7 and 8's.
Grades 3 and 4 are studying animal
classification and doing sOme work on frogs.
