Gordon Barwell speaks to
After Five Club meeting.
On April 25 at the Saltford Valley Hall The
Goderich and District After Five Club held
its Annual Guest Night.
There was much chatter and laughter as
the crowd enjoyed trying to answer trivia
questions.
Listening to music sung by Don and Betty
MacDonald made one certainly feel that this
was indeed a special evening. For Don's last
number he chose It Is Well and his rendition
left the audience silent.
Speaker was Gordon Barwell, the Direc-
tor For Canadian Athletics In Action, who
had played for the Saskatchewan Rough
Riders. Gordon's sense of humor and his ex-
periences as a professional football player
certainly captured the audience's attention.
Gordon explained how people will say to a
person who seems to have it made in life,
"You sure are lucky". He said then if I'm so
lucky why do I feel so empty inside.
Gordonthen had another professional
player explain to him how he found the
Peace That Passes All Understanding when
he asked Jesus to be the Savior and Lord of
his life.
Gordon stated how that since he made
that commitment himself, life has still had
its share of tragic events but that every day
is a Gift from God and that God is who he
puts his trust in.
The Queen for the Day will be crowned at
the May 27th meeting.
