Program gives urban youth
ab icultural experience
The .Junior Agriculturalist Program is
designed to give urban students between the
ages of 16-18 a chance to gain some valuable
agricultural experience. The aim of the pro-
gram is to bridge the urban -rural gap:
Students are interviewed and placed on a
suitable farm for a nine week period exten-
ding from mid-June to mild -August.
The student receives $20 per day as train-
ing allowance with the farmer contributing
$10 and the government the remainder. The
farmer also provides room and board.
Co-ordinators for -the Agricrew and Junior
Agriculturalist Programs will be starting in
the Huron Office on May 5. North Huron will
be covered by Brock Whitehedd, and South
Huron by David Wright.
Farmers and young people interested in I
these programs should contact Brock or
David at the Clinton OMAF Office 482-3428
or 1-800-265-5170. -
