Welcome to the first Goderich Home and
Garden Show.
And the first edition, which was capably
organized and sponsored by the Goderich
Figure Skating Club, offers a most im-
pressive and ambitious program of events
and features.
In short, .despite the fact it's a first at-
tempt, the show promises to be a most infor-.-_
mative and entertaining one.
To be sure, there is something for
everyone at the Home and Garden Show.
The show runs for three days from 6 p.m.
Friday, April 25 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 27.
and features nearly 60 displays from
business interests in the Goderich area.
Featuring a tea garden, free entertain-
ment, demonstrations, door prizes, fashion
shows and more, the show will.be open for
four hours Friday evening to 10 p.m., from
10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6
p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for
students and seniors. Children must be ac-
companied by an adult and will be admitted
free.
The show will be the principle fund-raiser
for the Goderich Figure Skating Club. The
opportunity for the show was prposed by
recreation director Jane Netzke and club
president Libby Schultz said the group took
up the challenge.
"We decided to take on the project in
January after Jane talked to us and we ap-
proached the Walkerton skating club
because they put on a show there," she ex-
plained. "They were able to give us a lot of
help. Then we sent out invitations and all the
spots filled up quickly so we were
encouraged."
On the garden side of things, the show will
feature everything from lawn ornaments

specialists while ehibitors on the home side
of the spectrum will feature furniture,
swimming pools; windows, decorating ideas
and wares through to home computers.
In essence, the show offers something of
interest to just about everyone.
At least 56 businesses will be represented
at the show and Schultz said more would
welcome the opportunity to participate if
space could be made available.
"People really waelcomed the idea," she
said. "We have hearing from a lot of people
and they all say it's a great idea."
The skating club took on the show with
some assistance from the Signal -Star.
Under a show committee of Schultz,
Heather Wheeler and Gloria Atfield, the
club's executive -has been more than active
getting this first effort off the ground.
"Everyone on the board is helping and
AW"
even the mothers will.be operating our tea
garden and cooking the food," she explain-
ed. "Much of the food was donated as was a
lot of the work."
It has taken a great 'deal of dedication,
dtermination and effort to put the show
together and Schultz was quickto credit the
work of committees and other volunteers
like Bob Cornish, in making the show a
reality:
Also, all the entertainment for the show
has been donated by the performers.
The club's first endeavor has obviously
been a learning experience and if suc-
cessgul, Schultz said it will definitely be an
annual event of the club's.
"If it goes well, we'll definitely keep it go-
ing and so far the response has been ex-
cellent. People have asked us to put them on
the list for next year."
See you at the Goderich Horne and Garden
Show.
