Mr. Nixon, who last June became `On- tario's first Liberal Treasurer in 42 years under the new government of Premier David Peterson, will be speaking at the riding's annual meeting and election of officers. ' Jack Riddell, who is the 13 -year veteran MPP for Huron -Middlesex and the Minister of Agriculture and Food in the Peterson government, said he was pleased to have his cabinet colleague at the meeting, which also features a dinner. Mr. Nixon, who has represented Brant - Oxford -Norfolk since 1962, is also govern- ment House Leader and operates a 250 -acre farm. The interest rate charged for five-year fixed interest term mortgages i`s 11 per cent. - It had been 11 7/8 per cent since last June 10. Loans under the Shared- Risk Mortgage pro- gram are all 11 per cent, a drop of 1/4 of one per cent. The rate for 10 -year fixed terms is 111 per cent, down from 12 3/8 per cent. Loans with fixed terms of 15 years or more have dropped from 121/2 to 111/2 per cent. Farm syndicate loans for the joint pur- chase of machinery and buildings by a group - of three or more ,farmers 'are available at an interest rate of ll per cent. They were at 11 7/8 per cent. "This is the fourth time in the past 18 mon- ths that FCC interest rates have been reduc- ed," stated Wise. "These are the lowest rates being offered by the Corporation since 1979." - Wise added "I think it is interesting to note that the Shared Risk Mortgage pro- gram hos proven to be so popular with FCC clients. At year end some 21 per cent of the loans approved by the Corporation were under this program." 1
