Golfers hit the course
Unseasonably waren weather and drying
southerly winds have combined to push the
golf season into the minds, and grips, of
area players.
As teirnperatures soared ov0,20,,p on the
weekend, players dusted the crub off and
took to the first seven holes at Maitland
Golf and Country Club.

golfers but could be open by the weekend if

there is no rain this week, golfers can ex-

the pro shop wouldn't hurt. '
The driving range is expected to be open

Board doesn't want jumps
BMXers will still be looking for a
suitable place to ride after the recreation
board has asked council to look into the
matter of a proposed track or jumps at
Agriculture Park.
A delegation from the ,Goderich' Trotting
Association appeared before the town's
recreation board Thursday outling con-
cerns about locating a BMX track for
young cyclists in the area. Jumps near the

Board member, Harry Worsell said he
wasn't in favor of a track or jumps

All-star games between the .Srhamrock
and Lambton Leagues were held in
Parkhill last Sunday for the Bantams and
Midgets.
The Bantam representatives who made
the team were Scott Garrow and Barry
Thompson. And once again Scott Garrow
put on a show, leading the, Shamrock
League All-star to an 84 win Garrow
scored five times en route to the win.
Thompson played a good game and
assisted on one of Garrow's goals. '
Garrow started the game on the .right
track as he scored his first 20 seconds into
the game. Later, in the first period, he put
his team ahead with two seconds left on the
clock. To top that all off he added an end to
end rush for another goal.
Both Midget representatives made the
team and they were Mark Cauchi and Dar-
rel Durnin. Both were held Pointless but
nevertheless played a solid game. Durnin
had the best chance to score when he let a
backhand shot go from the side of the net
that just missed the far corner. The
Shamrock All-stars were ahead' 3-1 until
they took a couple of untimely penalties
and allowed the Lambton All-star to tie it
up.
The Shamrock League All-stars con-
sisted of players from St. Marys, Exeter,
Lucan, Goderich, Strathroy, Dorchester,
Belmont, Port Stanley, Mount Brydges, Il-
derton and Lambeth.
