Park named for Gerry Ginn

HOLMESVILLE-E aster morning at
Holmesville United Church was well attend-
ed with Rev. C. Scott officiating. The senior
choir led in the ministry of music. Flowers
were placed in the church in memory of
Mrs. Elmer Potter.
A 'committee of Gary Preszcator, Dave
Hemingway, Ann Abbott, Allison Lobb, Don-
na Wettlaufer and Reeve Grant Stirling
have been planning a new sign at the
playground in memory of Gerry Ginn,
former warden and reeve of Goderich
township, chairperson for the 1-5-0 celebra-
tions and a nlember of the Forresters.
In his heart he wanted to see the ball park
completed, so the children would have
somewhere to play. Residents would like to
preserve his memory by renaming the'park
The Gerry Ginn Memorial Park. Anyone
'N\wanting to donate, may leave a contribution
at the Holrnesville store.
Harold and Donna Wettlaufer will be
opened for this weekend at Woodlyn Drive
in near Hayfield.
Sympathy is extended the family of the
late Reta Potter.
. INTENDED FOR LAST WEEK
HOLMESVILLE - The Fifth Annual
Dessert Euchre of the Seven Ladies Groups
of Goderich Township was held on March 19.
Each group had their jobs set out for them
so everyone was busy.
Helen Fuller president of the Goderich
Township Women's Institute (W.I.) welcom-
ed everyone and got them up to enjoy the
various kinds of dessert.
When the food was eaten and tables
cleared, card games began with 35 tables

playing. The winners were Effie Yeo - lone
hands; ladies high, Vielta Hoggart; Bob
Welsh, men's lone hands; John Semple,
men's low; Jim Maier, mens high.
Door prize was won by Doris Hicks. It was,
a Mum plant donaLed by Blanche Deeves.
Special prizes were won by: lucky chair,
Stan IVIcIlwain'and Doris Batkin; anniver-
sary prize, Clare Blake and Jean Flastzer,
birthday prize went to Beth Knox. Youngest
grandchildren went to Mary Syrup donated
by Helen Fulller, apples and cider were
from iNrt Bell's.
The Enterprising Seniors met on March 20
in the community centre with Bert Mc-
Creath in charge. The meeting opened with
usual opening with Charlotte Norman at the
piano. The club welcomed Margaret Yeo
and Lorraine Young. Frank Yeo gave the
treasurer's report and the minutes of the
last meeting were read and approved.
June 23 and 24 are the dates for the
senior's games to be held in. Dorchester.
Blanche Deeves spoke on the senior's bus
trip to Geritol Follies on June 25 - please get
your names in.
Murdock Morrison introduced the live
entertainment he had for the the seniors.
They were Gladys Van Egmond, Elgin
Knott and Ray Cantelon who treated the
seniors to some toe -tapping music. Mr. Mor-
rison thanked the group and invited them to
have pancakes and sausages.

SEMINA
Communion was celebrated in
Holrnesville United Church on March 23
with Rev. Charles. Scott officiating. The
senior choir led in the Ministry of Music,
Rev. Scott spoke to the children about Com-
munion before going to their classes.
Wayne Tebbutt and Gordon Lobb received
the offering.
A comittee of Ann Abbott, Allison Lobb,
Dana Hemingway and Donna VVettlaufer
with Grant Stirling from council are asking
for donations for the construction of a pla-
que or sign at the baseball park, which will
then be called The Gerry Ginn Memorial
Park. Please leave your donations at the
Holmepville Store.

Findlay, dear mother of Molly, Mrs.
William Cox.

graduate from
Fanshawe College
Several local people graduated from Fan-
shawe College in London recently from ap-
prentice in -college training.
Graduates from the Advanced Plumber
course include Keith J. Pollock, of Ripley
and from the Advanced Farm Equipment
Mechanic include Donald H. Bogie, of
Goderich.
From the Advanced Motor Vehicle
.Mechanic course, Shawn M. Dalton, of
Goderich and Paul D. Ritchie, of Hensall
graduated.

Junior Farmers qualify for exchanges
The Huron County Junior Farmer
Association would like to congratulate Lin-
da Axtmann, Rob Essery and Janice Mur-
ray. These three people attended the March
Conference this year in London and were
rewarded for their Junior Farmer works.
Linda Axtmann will be attending the
Great Lakes S'oCial Recreation Camp in
Michigan. Rob Esser will be travelling to
West Germany, and Janice Murray is the
delegate who is being sent to Indiana.
The travelling exchange programs pro-
vide unlimited opportunities for Junior
.Farmers to travel to other provinces and
countries, as well as to host 'Over– 30
delegates who visit the province annually.
Every year, members are invited to ap-
ply and be interviewed for the exchanges.

These exchange trips may last from two
weeks for an interprovincial trip, to eight
months. for the Australia/New Zealand

4-H showmanship team is
second at championship contest
Huron County's 4-H Showmanship team
came in second in team score in a competi-
tion held March 22 at Kemptville College.
Brant County beat Huron by one point for
the championship over 25 teams.
Huron County's 4-H program was well
represented by the, team of Anita Bos,
Audrey Bos, Donna Johnston, and Sandra,

Shelley. Sandra Shelley was Grand Cham-
pion Swine Showman, and had the high
dividual score. Anita and Audrey, showed ir
the Dairy Showmanship Class and Donna.
