The Huron Comity Chapter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation held a wrap-up meeting on March 19 at the Clinton Legion. To date. the chapter has raised close to $10,000 more • than last year. Attending the meeting were Stan Connelly, President of the Huron County Chapter left), Ifon McClory, Executive Director of the Heart and Stroke Foundation Ontario, and Barney Goldsmith, Huron County's campaign chairman. The foundation is heavily dependent on volunteers." Although the campaign was a success, Mr. Goldsmith said there were holes but plans to plug them are already underway. In order to canvass the county, areas were broken down. The first area, consisting of Auburn, Ashfield, Colborne, West and. East Wawanosh, has raised $1,884 to date. The second area, consisting of Goderich, Stanley and Tuckersmith Townships and Bayfield, raised $5,355 to date: To date, the third area, consisting of Hay, Stephen, Usborne, Hensall and Zurich, rais- ed $6,283.75 Area four raised $8, to date..i,IIt coni is �N<rny f+jIM„41 y 54"4 iSofilfeY yy w�h and Brusseels. Turnberry' and' Howick were area five, and have brought in $2,278.75 to date. The towns, Clinton, Exeter, Goderich, Seaforth and Wingham, raised $14,305. CLINTON - The. Huron County Chapter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation is' winding down its annual campaign. To thank the many volunteers; a dinner was held on March 19 which followed by a brief meeting at the legion. Special guests at the meeting were Ron McClory, Executive Director of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, and Jane Vincent, regional director. "The Huron County campaign' was very successful again this year. It is.up•close to $10,000 over last year," said Mr. McClory. - To date, $39,000 has been raised in the county and organizers are confident the' $45,000 goal will be reached when the re- mainder of the donations come in. - Campaign chairman Barney,ne, Golds the F el ined the $45,000 go ,. t� h imately $15,000 over the 1985 figure. The 1984 feasibility study recommended retaining the current site and the school building if it is economically feasible. Huron County Council 'has decided. to refurbish the school Wilding and reconstruct the other museum buildings over the four year,period of construction. The feasibility study determined the cur- rent location is favoured by museum visitors and county residents. The present site is especially preferred by Goderich residents. The historic school building is a major factor contrlbuting to the preference for the present site.
