Family therapy shifts
BY SHARON DIETZ
Peter has always been a problem child.
When he was little he was into everything.
When he was six he was the one who
always made a mess at the dinner table by
spilling something. When he was eight, he
was the one who rode his bike in forbidden
territory. When he was 12, he was the one
who was never content to stay in the
neighbourhood.
Now that he's 15, he's travelling with a
group his parents disapprove of and the
police have brought him home for getting
into trouble. His parents say they can't do
a thing with him. He's out of control.

Katimavik. It's not just work -creating pro-
grams youth need," says Haydon.
Despite criticism that Hebert's hunger
strike is wrong, Haydon says that is the on-
ly way he could get any attention about the
plight of Katimavik. She supports hien
because he is concerned about the future of
all young people in Canada.
In a story in late February in the Signal -
Star, the majority of Katimavik sponsors
in Goderich expressed their sadness at the
demise of the program.
In the Goderich area, participants work-
ed with seniors, the handicapped and
school children as well as the town and the
Huron County Pioneer Museum for four
years, Most of the sponsors said they'd
take back Katimavik tomorrow.

Justify pay raise
Dear Editor-:
• Just a few weeks ago I read that council
had given themselves a raise in pay. This
past- week I read where they are cutting
down on the number of council meetings
because most meetings only last a half hour.
I can't figure out why they didn't brine
this isue up the night they gave themselves,a
raise. They took the job on at a certain rate
of pay. Then give themselves a raise.
It seems to me that one councillor had
said they had to keep up with the rate of in-
flation. Do they not know that this is what
causes inflation?
I would welcome a letter from them
printed in the paper their justification of
less hours and more money.
Thank you
Vern Smith

Peter's parents have always worried
about him. They spend a lot of their time
together talking about hm. To his family
he's always been and still is a pain.
Peter's parents decide things are only
going to get worse and it's time to get
Peter some help. They make an appoint-
ment tosee a family counsellor.

done right now."
All these functions are vital, he says, and
none can be ignored. If you do, someone

gets hurt because their steeds go un-
satisfied.
The family may come up with functions
that meet the needs of the family, but so-

Peter's family, it's Peter.
