Three goads by
Ross leads Harriston
to 4-0 win in C play.
Harriston got some solid
shutout goaltending from Jason
Pilkington and a three -goal per-
formance from David Ross
Saturday to defeat Parkhill 4-0 to,
earn a berth in the C division
championship game.
The win was the third straight
of the tournament for Harriston
and earned the team the right to
play Seaforth later that
afternoon.
Harriston scored the only goal
of the first period as Ross con-
verted a pass from teammate
Jeff Benninger before the game
was two minutes old. Both
Parkhill goaltender Clint Mc-
Cann and Pilkington in the Har-
riston net turned in solid perfor-
mances, especially in the first
period to keep the game a one -
goal difference.
The turning point in the game
came in the second period when
Harriston scored two goals in the
span of a minute while playing
shorthanded. The goals took the
drove out of Parkhill and the
game was a relatively tame af-
fair from that point.
With a teammate off for in-
terference, Ross scored on an
unassisted effort midway
through the period and just over a
minute later Melvin Ross took a
pass from David Ross and found
the corner to increase Har-
riston's advantage to three goals.
Harriston clinched the win in
the final period as Ross com-
pleted his hat trick with a goal at
3:47. Captain Steven MacDougall
assisted on the play.
The loss signalled the last tour-
nament game for' Parkhill, a
team which opened the tourney
with victories over Mooretown
and Dorchester.

The host Goderich Lions
Peewee hockey team played well
in the 37th edition of YCW but un-
fortunately came up flat in the
championship game Saturday.
An agressive Petrolia team
outskated, and outhustled
Goderich at every turn and came
away with a 7-1 victory and claim
to the B division championship of
the 1986 tournament.
Petrolia was full value for the
championship and displayed
great hustle and puck control in
all four wins. They defeated
Mount Forest in the openipg.
round of the tourney and advanc-
ed with a victory over Acton and
then beat Exeter and Hanover to
reach the division championship.
However,.Petrolia took control
of the game from the opening
faceoff and it was evident early
they were the superior team this
day. They scored three 'tithes in
the opening periodarid
4-0 leadinto the final period.
Play was listless in the final
period and Petrolia outscored
Goderich 3-1 in the third period to
produce the 7-1 final score.
Goderich had its chances to get
back in the game when the deficit
was two or three goals, but even
with a two-man advantage they
rarely tested Jason Wilson in the
Petrolia goal.
Dave Edgar led Petrolia's of-
fence with three goals. He scored
