Many of the songs she will be singing were written by herself or members of her family. Blyth,Festtval.is. presenting 'the West' coast fdlk , jazz," blab aftis'i at the memorial hall on.March 30. at 2 p.m. Holly Arntzen's folk influences, spon- taneous jazz renditions and the visceral rhythms of her rock and blues numbers, have been compared to such artists as Gor- • don Lightfood, Cleo Laine and Joni Mitchell. Holly's music has been featured on CBC radio shows, Morningside and Simply Folk. In 1983, Holly was selected winner of the DuMaurier Search for the Stars and ap- peared on the following CBC television special. After that performance she was asked by folk artist Stan Rogers to record the backup vocals on his last album, From the Fresh Water. Many of her songs are written by Holly, and others are a family affair, written with brother Trevor Jones, father Lloyd Arn- tzen, and husband Stephen Foster. The con- cert also contains favourites by George Ger-' shwin, Stan Rogers and Alberta Hunter. Holly is accompanied by a bass player and pianist, and plays dulcimer, guitar and piano herself. Tickets are $10 each and are available through the Blyth Festival box office at (5191 523-9300 or 523-9225. Mini -packages, which include the Holly Arntzen concert, and Amadeus, performed by the Kitchener - Waterloo Symphony on May 14, are still available at the cost of $15 for the two events. The Blyth Festival's '86/87 Concert Series will be announced at the Holly Arn- tzen concert on March 30. The group was asked "How we could be good delegates to the 4-H Rally." They discussed now they would reply to the in- vitation (if they got one), what they would wear, how to pack their suitcases efficiently and what to,bring according to the Activities and Climate. Surprising as it may seem, people never pack according to the length of time they stay, as one should be able to mix -and - match various things. Then they discussed who to tip at a really posh hotel. Being or having a houseguest was next. They were given 10 situations and 10 possi- ble., answers or thing to do all mixed up. I liked this one. If your houseguest likes to look through the medicine cabinet you ... fill it with marbles that will fall out when the door is opened!! Imagine their surpise! Huron Atlas included in time capsule The Huron County 1984 historical atlas will be around for a long time - at least another 100 years. A time capsule is being constructed' at On- tario Place in Toronto and the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation want souvenirs from municipalities that participated in On- tario's bicentennial in 1984. Huron County has agreed to donate a copy of the atlas which was the county's bicenten- nial project. It actually came off the press and was officially released last October. The atlas will be in the capsule along with other documents•and artifacts from aver 800' communities' in the province. The time capsule is to be opened in 2084, when the province will celebrate the 300th anniversary of the landing of the United Empire Loyalists.
