Peter and the Wolf updated
An exciting new production of "Peter and
the Wolf", by Nova Scotia's acclaimed Mer-
maid Theatre, will be presented at Blyth
Memorial Hall on Saturday, Mar. 15, at 2
p.m.
This special version of "Peter and the
Wolf" is an inventive adaptation of Pro-
kofiev's classical musical tale for children.
The show has lively musical arrangements,
colorful masks, and a mixture of actors and
life-size puppets. It is set in rustic Nova
Scotia. It serves as a fine introduction to the
visual and performing arts for young
audiences.
The modern, up to date treatment of the
tale utilizes a synthesizer, a "high tech"
wolf, asywell as gymnastics and mitre, all of
whi b is bound to prove stimulating and in-
teresting for the whole family.
This is a return engagement for the Mer-
maid Theatre at Blyth; they also brought
the "Just So Stories" in the 1984 Fall -Spring
series. "Peter and the Wolf" has played
throughout Nova Scotia and is now on a
crqss-Canada tour.
Tickets are $4 each, and are available at
the Blyth Box Office. For more information,
please call: 523-9300.
Video classification
strickening postponed
A postponement of Ontario's video
classification stickering program was an-
nounced recently by the Ministty of Con-
sumer and Commercial Relations.
"Due to a number of production and
technical problems with the stickers, as well
as, application difficulties encountered by
the industry, we are announcing a delay in
the stickering program", said Jan Rush,
Executive Director, Business Practices
Division.
"In consultation with representatives
from all sectors of the industry, the ministry
will•be hiring a consultant to review the im-
plementation program," Rush said. "Until
such time as the consultant reports back to
us, the stickering process is now on hold,"
she said.
She added that the sale of classification
stickers to the video industry for application
to cassettes has been temporarily suspend-
ed, pending production quality control
checks.
"In view of the problems encountered
with the stickers and in fairness to the in-
dustry and the integrity of the program, we
decided to call a temporary halt to the
stickering",, Rush said.
She said the moratorium would afford
studios additional time to clear outstanding
titles for classification and approval. In the
meantime, the Theatres Branch will pro-
duce an up-to-date catalogue for use by
video retailers in classifying their existing
stock.
Although the ministry is calling a
moratorium on the stickering, Ontario's
commitment to the work of the Ontario Film
Review Board remains in place.
The consultant's report is expected to be
completed in a few weeks.
Ontario families can
participatein exchange
recently. It is also a unique occasion to
develop a lasting friendship.
It is not necessary to have children to be
able to host. However, it is important to be
open, generous, understanding and to know
how to include the student as a true member
of the family.

of continuing their thigh school education in
Canada, during the 1986-87 school year. In-
terculture Canada is searching for 20
families in Ontario, who would be interested
in hosting these students, aged from 15 to 18
years old.
Inviting foreign students to Canada allows
them to discover a part of 'the world they

family will, in turn, have the chance to
discover another country through the
customs and traditions of their young stu-
