man was BeMs Ross surveyor
ROY ALEXANDER TELFORD
Roy Alexander Telford of. Bayfield died at
Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on
Sunday, February 23, 1986 in his 43rdyear.
A surveyor with B.M. Ross and Associates
of Goderich, he was a member of the
Anglers' Association of Bayfield.
Born in Goderich on May 8, 1943, he was a
• son of the former Gladys Clark of Bayfield
and the late Frederick Telford. He married
Jo Anne Burrows of Stratford on July 11,
1964.. -
He is suvived by his wife, a son, Jeffery
Steven and a daughter, Lorinda Anne, both
at home, his mother and his mother and
father-in-law, Winn and Harry Burrows of
Stratford.
He is also survived by four brothers,
George, Doug and Tom of Bayfield and Stan
of Goderich and four sisters, Rosemarie,
Mrs. Rona Scol.dimer of Mitchell; Ramona`
Mrs. Remi Verhoeven of Grand Bend;
Delores, Mrs. Frank Fisher of Kitchener
and Sandra, Mrs. Brian Fields of R. 1,
Zurich, and a brother-in-law, David Bur-
rows of Stratford.
He was predeceased by a infant brother,
William and his father.
Funeral and committal services were
held at the McCallum Funeral Home at 2
p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 1986, con-
ducted by Rev. Paul Murray of St. Andrew's
United Church, Bayfield.
Pallbearers were Andrew Telford, Kevin
Telford, Steven Telford, Michael Telford,
Randy McClinchey and George Hudson.
Burial in Bayfield Cemetery.
ADA (CLARK) LEITCH
Ada Leitch, the former Ada Clark, of
Goderich died at Alexandr'h Marine and
General Hospital on Wednesday, February
26, 1986 in her 86th year.
Born in London, Ehgland on January 23,
1901, she was a daughter of the late Peter
Clark and the former Florence Partridge.
She married William Leitch who predeceas-
ed her.
She is survived by a son, George of
Goderich and two daughters, Mildred and
Jack Whetstone of Goderich and Muriel and
Dr. George Elliott of Clinton. She is also sur-
vived by eight grandchildren and 14 great-
grandchildren. A .sister, Gladys, Mrs.
Frederick Telford of Bayfield also survives.
She was predeceased by three brothers,
Joe, George and Borden (Buster) Clark:
Funeral and committal services were, con-
ducted' from the McCallum Funeral Home
at 2 p..m. on Saturday, March 1, 1986 by Rev.
G.L. Royal of Knox Presbyterian Church,
Goderich. -
Pallbearers were . Ron • Whetstone, Rick
' Whetstone, Butch Elliott, Murray Taylor,
Paul Booth and David Leitch. '

ALBERT JAMES 1 BERT) MCBRIDE
Albert James ( Bert) McBride of
Goderich, formerly of Stanley Township,
died at University Hospital, London on
Wednesday, February 26, 1986, at the age of
A retired farmer, he was a member of the
Goderich 'Tatting Association and Goshen
United Church.
Born in Zurich on December 10, 1914, he
was a son of the late James Albert McBride
and Lily Johnston. He -married Maye
Coward, who survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two
daughters, Gail Skinner of Seaforth, Judy
and Jorin Estabrooks of Richmond and a
son, Ron and Pauline McBride of Goderich.
-Three grandchildren, Michael and Angela
McBride and Kimberly Estabrooks also sur-
vive. He is also survived by a brother, Clare
McBride.
. The funeral and Committal services were
conducted from • the McCallum Funeral
Home in Goderich on Friday, February 28,
1986 at 2 p.m. by Rev. John D.M. Wood of
Victoria Street United Church, Goderich.
Pallbearers were Ron McGee, Bob
McKinley, Bob Daer, Don MacGregor, Ken
Parke and Carman Kerr.
Burial in Bayfield Cemetery.

Joseph G. Bowman died at Kitchener -
Waterloo Hospital on Thursday, Feb. 20,
1986, in his 75th year.
Lovingly remembered by his wife, Mabel
(Issler) Rittinger; his pins, Glenn and wife
Isabelle Rittinger of Gt'derich, Jim and his
wife Jeannette Rittinger of Kitchener;
grandchildren, Todd, Mark, Michael and
Monique; two nephews and a niece, Mahlon
and Erma Dettwiler, Carl and Ellen Dett-
wiler, Pauline and Curtis Baer and children.
Predeceased by his first wife, the former
Alma Weigel; his parents, Levi Bowman
and Elizabeth Gingerich and one sister,
Lucinda Dettwiler.
Joe was a member of St. Matthew's
Lutheran Church, serving on church council
and as a volunteer driver for Loaves and
Fishes. -
An employee of JM Schneider Inc., serv-
ing for 19 years, he retired in'1976. He was a
member of the JM Schneider Ex -
Set icemen's Club, having served with'the
Canadian Armed Forces for three years,; a
member of the 'Stanley Park Senior Citizens
Club, where he served in various offices and
a former member of the Beaux- and Bells
Square Dance Club. Joe received the Lamb.
Award from the National Lutheran Commit-
tee on Scouting, in which he participated for
over 15 years.
Donations to the North Waterloo Cancer
Society or St. Matthew's Lutheran Church
Memorial Fund would be appreciated as ex-
pressions

- On Friday, Mar. 7 at 8 p.m. the last card
party will be held at Christ Church and the
seventh lotted draw will take place during
the evening.
The Port Albert hockey team is tied for se-
cond place . and Daniel Green, Trevor
Vandenburg and Phillip Dickson's novice
hockey team ; won 'their semi-final game
against Ripley.
Congratulations to Frank and Isabelle
Doherty who recently celebrated their wed-
ding anniversary and happy birthday
wishes to Bessie Bellinger.
Jim and Diane Monnot from Markham,
Gord and Elerior Cockfield from Michigan
and Patsy Sherer from Ohio were visiting
Viola Petrie recently.
Tom and Diane Dickson are in Florida on
their second honeymoon.

On Feb. 19 the first meeting of the Port
Albert Decorum 4-H club was held at the
home of Mrs. Smith. The meeting was called
to order and' officers were elected. The
following executive has been chosen.
Leaders are Helena Young and Greta
Smith. President is Wendy Westecott. Vice-
president is Wayne Smith: Secretary and
public relations officer is Barbara Smith.
Answers to the question, What does eti-
quette mean to you?" were brought for-
ward. It was decided that etiquette is a
system of rules ora code of conduct that
tells a thoughtfulway to behave around
other people with good taste, respect"and
consideration.- Etiquette is also a manner of,
common sense' and being natural.
Members then learned how to make pro-
per introductions and were formally in-
troduced to one another.
Do you know why people shake hands
-when meeting? Many years ago men held
out their empty hand to show they were not
holding a weapon. Being a hostess .and plea-
sant conversation were then discussed. The

meeting was then closed with the 4-H
pledge. -
The second and third meeting of the. Port
Albert Decorum opened at 7 p.m. on Feb. 26
at Mrs,, Smith's with the 4-H pledge. The
following items were discussed: manners at
home and a guideline for getting along with
your family and proper etiquette for using
the telephone. Correspondence etiquette
was explained after pointers on giving a
party at home were considered.
The third meeting followed after a short
break. A comparison of different cultures by
using your fork and knife the English way or
the American way was discussed. Finger
foods and if they required a knife and fork
for formai - settings` were discussed:.
Members then . talked ' about formal ban-
quets, how they are set up and the usual
order of program. Tips on introducing and
thanking the guest speaker were then ex-
changed. Concepts of fine restaurant dining
were also considered.
It was decided the time and date of the for-
mal luncheon would be Wed., March 12
