Although they finished fifth in the six - team league, the Sailors played a lot of good hockey, especially .at home, and the team has laid the groundwork for a more competitive. season next year. The coaching staff of Dah Duncan and Tag. Sowerby did a good job this year and are already planning for next season. 'file team executive has also worked hard and will be raising money to pay off the first. season's deficit. The return of competitive hockey has also been supported well by the various team sponsors and by the local fans who have made Friday night hockey night in Goderich once more. The Sailors were bound to be down following this heart -breaking, loss here Tuesday, butthey gave a good effort in Port Elgin in game three despite losing 8-3. The Sailors gave up four first period goals and it looked as though the Bears might embarrass the Sailors crew in their last game of the year, however, the Sailors came back to outscore the Bears 2-1 in the second period and kept the game respec- table in the third when they were outscored 3-1. Pete Willems had two of the Goderich goals and Kevin Lee got the third one. Daryl Madge assisted on both of Willems goals and Grant Garrow and Dave Gallow assisted on one each.
