Love is the topic of
sermon at Au.urn
The minister Gary Shuttleworth was in
charge of the Sunday morning worship.
Organ Prelude was by Mrs. Gordon Gross.
Several hymns from The Hymns of the'
Gospel were sung. A quartet of Lori Millian,
Nancy Park, Ell Lapp and Jake Mid-
delkamp sung "The Master Hath Come"
under the direction of Mrs. Barry Millian.
Junior congregation was run by Mrs. Bob
Worsell, Mrs. Fred Armstrong and Lori and
Donna Lynn Armstrong. Theministers ser-
mon was entitled "Love Direction". Offer-
ing was received by Allan Webster and
Peter Verbeek.
Next Sunday, Feb. 23 will be Scout Guide
Sunday when 40 members of the organiza-
tion from the Blyth district will visit. Fami-
ly night will be Friday Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. Pot
luck dinner and slides of Haiti will be shown
by Maria Dalton.
LOCAL
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jardin and family of
Kitchener and Bonnie Armour and Julie of
Waterloo, spent the weekend with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jardin and Mrs.
E. Straughan.
Mrs. Robert Young of Stratfol+d and son
Craig Ritchie, of Goderich were Saturday
visitors with Ellen Johnston and Laura
Phillips.
EUCHRE RESULTS
The weekly euchre party was held on
Wednesday Feb. 12 at Auburn Community
Hall. The winners were: high man, Gordon
Gross; low man, Ray Hanna; High lady,
Lillian Leatherland; low lady, Nadiene
Scott; novelty, Murray Rollinson and
special prize, Jane Glousher.
W.M.S. MEETING
The February meeting of the Auburn
Presbyterian W.M.S. was held at the home
of Lillian Leatherland.
The president Mrs. Roy Daer presided
_ and gave the Call to Worship. The devo-
tional period was run by Marion Haggitt.
The meditation was on The Holy Spirit,
followed by prayer.
The study was run by Viola Raithby who
read an account of the work of George and
Mary Allann, missionaries in Bolivia.

The March meeting will beat the home of
Viola Raithby on Mar. 11 at 1:30 p.m.
UNIT I1 OF KNOX UNITED CHURCH
▪ Gary Shuttleworth said grace for a Valen-
tine Dessert when Unit II of Auburn UCW
met Feb. 12 in the church.
Beth Lansing and Mrs. Oliver Anderson
were in charge assisted by Mrs. I. Turner
and Mrs. J. Naylor. There were 17 members
and three visitors present.
The worship, included valentines to each
with a Bible verse on "Love" which
members read alternately. A prayer written
by the Indian poet Pauline Johnson was
read and the hymns "He's got the Whole
World in His Hands" and "For the Healing
of the Nations" were sung with Marjorie
McDougall as pianist.
A Meditation from "The Half Breed
Book" gave further insight to the year's
study on the Canadian Indian. Marjorie
McDougall played "Whispering Hope" as
an instrumental during the offering.
A film on Indians entitled "Unlearning In-
dian Stereo -types was shown by Shuttlewor-
th. He followed with a talk and a period of
open discussion.
The leader Betty Marsh led in the
business and Mrs. Jack Armstrong
presented the financial report. Plans were
made for family night to be held on Friday
Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.
The roll call was answered by generous
donations to the Layette and 10 pneumonia
jackets were received for the Ethiopian pro-
ject.
Visits were arranged for five shut-ins and
the U.C.W. will cater for Blyth Festival's
dinners.
UCW consider stereotypes
Holmesville U.C.W. held their meeting on
Tues., Feb. 11.
Phyllis Cok and her group led the worship
program on the topic, the Canadian Indian.
Jean,Perdue read an article on the topic
and Phyllis Cox read an article entitled, The
Walls of an Invisible Prison, pointing out the
stereotype of the Indian.
Grace Walter read the scripture and a
prayer was offered by Muriel Grigg.
Phyllis closed the meeting with a reading,
Give Lavishly, Live Abundantly.
The president Charlotte Norman opened
the business meeting.
The members • were advised of, the %rid
Day of Prayer.
