Seniors euchre party attracts players
At the seniors weekly euchre, these were
11 tables of cards played. High lady score
was Mary Stewart; low score ,Marie Park
High men's score was Cecil Pollock; low
score Frank Pentland.
Sympathy is extended to Deloris ( Mrs.
Tom Culbert on the death of her stepfather,
Victor Lloyd Gibson, of Listowel on Friday,
February 14 in his 85th year. Deloris has
been staying with her mother.
Gertrude Park was admitted to Wingham
hospital on Saturday evening with severe
chest pains.
Michael Spivak, Brad Park, Christina
Kerr, and Danny Kerr all attended. a birth-
day arty at St. Helens- on Saturday for
Michael Cere,
We welcome to the village Mr. and Mrs.
Terry McClinchey and family. They are
residing in the former insurance office
building.
Margaret Mole has been released from
Kincardine hospital, but remained with
members of her family in Kincardine.
Sympathy to Gail Cook and Marie Park on
the death of their great uncle, 'Jim Steven-
son of Goderich on Monday, February 10 in
his 93rd year.
A fun game of hockey was held at
Lucknow arena on Saturday evening when
the Nile men's slo pitch team got together.
4, Beth McConnell, who resides at Farrish's
Rest Home. in Ashfield township, is a patient
in Wingham hospital following surgery.

Callers over the weekend with Bill and
Marie Park, Todd and Brad were Mike and
Val Bendig, Joel and Kate; Stephen, Holly
and Amber Park and Vicki Henry and Patti
Johnston.
Delmer and Judy Sproul, Randy and Judy
Kerr and Jack and Marj Pentland have
returned from.a one week stay on Paradise
Island, Bahamas where they rented a villa.
They report temperatures averaged 85
degrees daily. While there, Jack had good
luck in the casino.
Word has been received here of the death
of Mrs. Cecil Treleaven (Laurette Roach) of
Hamilton, in her 95th year.

On Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m., the air-
port 'committee will meet.
On;rhursday, Feb. 20 at noon, the RIA will
meet.
On Feb. 20 at 10:30 a.m., the Huron County
planning and development committee will
meet in the council chambers, Courthouse,
Goderich.
On Friday, Feb. 21 at 9:30 a.m., the Huron
County executive committee will meet in
the council chambers, Courthouse.
On Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m., the
recreation board will meet at town hall.
UCW hears
theme song
Unit 2, Friendly Helpers of Victoria St.
U.C.W. met at the church on Feb. 12, star-
ting with dessert prepared by Joyce God-
dard and Myrtle Kerr which was much en-
joyed.
The meeting opened with a poem, Take
Time tot. ove, by Leona. McBride and the
new theme song which was written by
Leona.
Gladys Ladd opened devotions with scrip-
ture. She gave two readings, It Doesn't
Have To Cost Money To Show I Love You
and A Perfect Day. Offering was received
and dedicated by Gladys.
Fifteen ladies answered the roll call with
their favourite T.V. commercial. Winnifred
Girvin won the draw on cupcakes donated
by Velma Linfield. Proceeds go into the bir-
thday box.
Audrey Linner gave a synopsis of the
book, A New Joy, by Catherine Marshall, a
short reading on Beating the February
Blahs.
Leona McBride closed the meeting with
another poem from the Friendship Book.
Attend festival
Nearly 50 people boarded a bus recently
for a one -day trip to Garden Festival '86 in
Mississauga, held in the International Cen-
tre February 8-16. The outing, which includ-
ed entertainment .on the bus and a stop for
dinner, was one of several winteractivities
of the Goderich Garden Club.
The club's next function will be a potluck .
supper at MacKay Centre on North Street.
The February business meeting will follow
the supper. Originally planned for Feb. 19,
the date of this function has been changed to
Thursday, Feb. 20. Members are requested
to note the change of date, and to arrive for.
6:30 p.m. equipped with dishes and cutlery
for their own use and their favourite food.
The Goderich Garden Club welcomes new
members. Men and women interested
should come to the meeting or telephone
Vera Margeram at 4-2306 or Vi Rutherford
at 4-8138.

Auxiliary plans
rummage sale
n Feb. 11, forty-six members of the
Legion Ladies' Auxiliary met for their
montly meeting. President Laura McLarty
called the meeting to order.
An appreciation dinner will be held by the
Branch for the Auxiliary on May 10. The an-
nual Tag Day will be held June 13 and a
rummage and bake sale is being planned for
April 26.
A donation of $25 was made to the March
of Dimes.
Three auxiliary bowling teams have' ad-
vanced to district level and will be travell-
ing by bus to Preston on March 8 to com-
pete..
The mystery prize was won by Comrade
Dorothy Durnin. Comrade Edna Powell ad-
journed the meeting.
