Sailors. 1-0 in playoff
the 'point past Port Elgin goalie Mike
Rourke.
The Port Elgin "goal came on a power-
play situation from a face-off in the
Sailors' end. Goderich had an edge in the
play in the period and had the better scor-
ing chances.
The Sailors regained the lead in' the first
minute of the second period when Brad
Armstrong finished off a ganging attack
by the Sailors around the Port Elgin net,
Kevin Lee and Rick Shakes, Arin trong's
linernates, both received assists On the
goal. i
The Sailor's were full value for their Lead
and good goaltending by Doug Dickson had
them in control until Bill Jacques Scored
two goals just 17 seconds apart midway
through the period. The first goal was a
power -play effort. For his second goal;
Jacques skated untouched through the
whole Sailorrte m. Ken Pederson gave the
Bears a 4-2 lead by coming out from behind

'scored both goals, giving him, four for the
day.
,+Pete Wilkins got a goal for Goderich
with two minutes left in the game, combin-
ing with John Graham and Dave Gallow,
OW that goal was 'matched by Dave
Strank's shot from the point that got
through Doug Dickson for the Bears final
tally. ,
The game was a physical one, with the
Bears taking 43 minutes in penalties com-
pared to the Sailors 36. The Bears got four.'
of their goals on power -play opportunities
but the Sailors did not score with their
manpower advantages.. This was a
decisive factor in the game. The Sailors
will have to put some kind of power -play
together if they are to stay with the high-
powered Bears. The Santos ,also tried us-
ing six defencemen in the game and cer-
tain combinations of them gave the Sailors
little mobility behind their own blueline.
The Bears are a strong team and part of
their strength comes from a, contingent of
players from Ower" +So'und That `city has
moved intothe Provincial Junior' A League
this year and former Junio`B' players
and.overage midgets who can't crack thdt
lineup are now playing for PottdEigin..,
