THE JOINT BOARD IS CONDUCTING PUBLIC HEARINGS TO CONSIDER THE
APPROVAL OF, AND IF APPROVED, THE LOCATION OF ONTARIO HYDRO'S
PROPOSED TRANSMISSION FACILITIES BETWEEN:
• THE BRUCE NUCLEAR POWER DEVELOPMENT, NEAR KINCARDINE, AND THE
ESSA TRANSFORMER STATION, NEAR BARRIE;
•
• THE BRUCE NUCLEAR POWER DEVELOPMENT AND A NEW TRANSFORMER
STATION TO BE BUILT IN THE LONDON AREA: AND
AND TAKE NOTICE THAT LANDS WITHIN THE SHADED AREAS SET OUT IN THE MAPS BELOW MAY BE EXPROPRIATED FOR ANY
FACILITIES WHICH MAY BE APPROVED.
• THE NEW TRANSFORMER STATION IN THE LONDON AREA AND THE
NANTICOKE GENERATING STATION, ON LAKE ERIE.
AND TAKE NOTICE THAT IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND AT THE HEARINGS, THE
JOINT BOARD MAY PROCEED WITH THE HEARING IN YOUR ABSENCE AND
YOU WILL NOT BE ENTITLED TO ANY FURTHER NOTICE IN THE PROCEEDINGS.
THE PROPOSAL
Ontario Hydro is proposing a major expansion of its bulk electricity transmission
system. This would involve constructing new transmission lines, a new London area
transformer station and related facilities. The recommended location and acceptable
alternative locations are shown on the maps in this notice.
Hearings before the Joint Board commenced in Guelph in November, 1985. Notice of
the commencement of the hearings was given by publication in September. October,
and November, 1985, and by mail in September, 1985. The notice of commencement
of the hearings advised of the intention to schedule as part of the hearing process
future local hearings for the convenience of the public to deal with certain aspects of
the undertaking.
All evidence on transmission routes and transformer station location will be given at
the respective local hearings. All other evidence is being given at the main hearing
locations in Guelph. Such evidence is now being presented at the Holiday Inn on
Stone Road.
Following the local hearings, the hearing will continue in Guelph to hear further
evidence on the recommended transmission system and alternative transmission
systems.
Any person:
(a) in support or in opposition to Ontario Hydro's recommended or acceptable
alternative routes; or ,
(b) who wishes to propose a deviation or alternative route to either the
recommended or acceptable alternative routes
is invited to make submissions or otherwise participate in the local public hearings.
In addition, any person who has not participated to date in the 'hearings conducted in
Guelph, which have so far dealt with general aspects of the undertaking, is invited to
make submissions at the local public hearings with respect to any matter that is
relevant to the undertaking. In so doing such person may give evidence and/or make
submissions and/or call his or her own witnesses to give evidence.
If you wish to make a submission at any of 1hese locations and have not already
notified the Board it would be of assistance to the Board if you would write or call Ms.
Yvonne Fernandes, Hearings Registrar, at the address below.
