Huron -Perth delegates
The Nile U.C.W. held their January
meeting in Goderich at the home of Myrtle
Kerr.
After welcoming the thirteen members
and two guests, the president Beth Rutledge
had the ladies read the U.C.W. motto in
unison. Beth called on the program con-
venor Dorothy Clements who chose as her
theme, Beauty. Dorothy read the scripture,
offered prayer and gave a reading on beau-
ty. She also gave a reading about changes in

Beth conducted the business. She and
Dorothy Clements and Bessie McNee were
chosen as delegates to the Huron -Perth
Presbyterial 1D.C.W. to be held Jan. 27.
The meeting dates have been changed to
the second Thursday of each month. The
Secret Sister banquet will be held at the
Candlelight Inn in February.

The W.M.S. Afternoon Auxiliary of Knox
Presbyterian Church met in the church
parlor Tuesday afternoon. The president
Mrs. R. McAllister opened the meeting with
a poem and prayer.
Mrs. C. Edward had charge of the devo-
tion. Her topic was preparation for the study
of native people. In her introduction Mrs. O.
Falkiner and Mrs. Royal read scripture
from The Actsof the Apostles.
Mrs. Edward then gave a very interesting
and informative talk urging all to give great
consideration to the living conditions of

these people. Their different homes, ways of
travel, foodtcolour, doctrine and different
teachings of Christianity all helped to
deprive them of a place in our society.
However we believe reforms will come and
brotherhood is a reality.
Reports were given by the treasurer and
corresponding secretary, Mrs. J. Horton,
presented Mrs. G. Kennedy with a Life
Membership Certificate.
The meeting closed with a hymn and
prayer. A social half-hour was enjoyed by
all.
Officers elected at Donnybrook
United Church anirual meeting
The first annual meeting of Donnybrook
United Church as a part of Dungannon
Union Pastoral Charge was held Sunday
following a potluck dinner -at Murray and
Louise Wilson's home.
Rev. Bob Roberts was chairperson. After
the minutes of last year's meeting were
read the various financial reports Were
reviewed.
Those newly elected to office included ses-
sion, Lois Chamney; stewards, Alice Jeffer-
so>Gi and Louise Wilson; ushers, Craig Jeffer-
son, Donald and John Hardy; manse com-
mittee, June Robinson and pastoral rela-
tions, Bill Robinson with Murray Wils; s
alternate.
Thanks were extended to Rev. Roberts
and John Williams for their guidance for the.
last six months and to the Wilsons for
hosting the meeting.

The DuLn�ggannon U.C.W. meeting was
held on Jan."21 at the manse with a good at-
tendance.
The meeting was opened with a poem,
Somehow not only fdr Christmas. Hymn
444 was sung. The devotion was taken by
Tinie Logtenberg, and verses from Psalm
19, St. John 14 .and Ecclesiastes 12 were
read. ' •

business meeting. The minutes were read
and adopted. Helen Dawson gave the
treasurer's report. She mentioned that
Christmas stockings had been sent to,the
nursing home, and the shut-ins were
remembered at Christmas. She added that
more than 30 cards for all occasions were
sent out during the year.
The correspondence and thank you
cards were read. Roll call was, Money
making ideas for 1986. Many good sugges-
tions came •forward. Nora Saunders an-
nounced that the World Day of Prayer will
be held at the Dungannon United Church.
Collection was taken and dedicated. Nora
Saunders then capably conducted the Bi-
ble Study.

Members separated into pairs and had to
mention a good person they had known.
Bessie McNee read from Greek mythology
about roses which were named after the
goddess of love! Aphrodite. Greeks also
used the roses for perfume.
In Canada, the early settlers gathered
rosehips which contained 20 times more
Vitamin C than oranges..A recipe for
rosehip jam was given.
She also had a story about St. Elizabeth •
of Hungary from the 13th century.
