Auburn churches elect officers for 1986
Communion was celebrated by Rev. Gor-
don Pickell of Goderich and minister Gary
Shuttleworth conducted the service.
After church, the Congregational Annual
Meeting followed. The meeting opened with
prayer and Gary Shuttleworth was elected
Chairman. The secretary was Maurice
Bean.
In memoriam was held for Robert Arm-
strong, Mrs. Ernest (Maxine) Durnin and
Mrs. Norman (Viola) McDowell. The
nominating committee included Mrs. Oliver
Anderson, Mrs. Peter Verbeek ,and Mrs.
Marinus Bakker.
Elected' officers were session, Elliott
Lapp and Maurice Bean, board of stewards,
Larry Plaetzer, W.L. Craig and Jack Arm-
strong, manse committee, Mr. and Mrs.
Dana Bean, churchauditors, Ethel Ball and
Mrs. Teade Bakker, M. and S. treasurers,
Betty Marsh and Mrs. Bud Chamney assis-

The Mission and Service Report showed
that the church exceeded its objective of
$3,800. A motion by Orval McPhee and Mar-
jorie McDougall that we accept $3,800 as our
Objective for 1986 was carried.
Tributes were paid by several members to
Mrs. Barry Millian following the reading of
her letter of resignation as Chou' Director to
take effect June 30,
Appreciation was expressed at the
meeting to Jim Glousher for blowing snow
with his tractor at the church and manse.
The Treasurer's Report showed that the
church had ai- good year and Marjorie
McDougall agreed to carry on as Church
Treasurer.

The minister's sermon was entitled "The
Supper of The Lamb". Rev. Pickell of
Goderich and the Church Elders served
Communion.

weekend with her cousins Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Cope and Carol of London.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hallam visited on Sun-
day with her mother, Gertrude Park of

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
The monthly meeting of the Women's In-
stitute was held Tuesday, Jan. 21 at the
Community Hall.
The meeting was held by Mrs. Bud
Chamney and Marjorie McDougall.
Mrs. Chamney 'spoke on our twin Pro-
vince, Prince Edward Island and Gary Shut-
tleworth showed a film on it.
The . president Mrs. Len Archambault
opened the meeting with a poem "Wait."
The minutes of the last meeting and
Treasurer's Report was given by secretary
Mrs. Robert Peck and was approved as
read.
Roll call was answered by 13 members
present. Card Report was given by Lillian
Leatherland and collection was received.
Viola Raithby read two poems "Do Things
In This Week" and `.`Don't Let Things Go
Wrong." Lillian Leatherland read a reading
"Never Overlook Today in Looking over
Tomorrow." Lunch was served by Mrs. Bud
Chamney, Viola Raithby and Lillian
Leatherland. Prizes were won by Marion
Haggitt, Donna Powell and Marjorie
McDougall..

Fourteen officials of the church met for
the annual business Meeting on Saturday,
Jan. 25. New officers elected were board
chairman, James Campbell; vice-
chairman, Pastor James Carne; board
secretary, Heather McCowan; treasurer,
David Baan; S.S. secretary, Marie Scott;
trustees, David Rodges (1989), John Mc-
Cowan (1988) and . Roy Burchill (1987) ;
deacons, David Baan (1989), James Camp-
bell (1988) and Doug Campbell (1987) .

tion is' Pastor Carne, children's director is
Dianne Baan, adult director is Heather Mc,
Cowan; youth director is James Campbell
and the music committee includes Eric
'Campbell, Gladys Campbell and Lorraine
Carne.

the P.M. head usher is Martin Baan, the
delegate to conference is James Campbell

Visiting Speaker for both Sunday services
was Barbara Sparks, missionary on
furlough from Nigeria. Sparks whose
parents are Rev. and Mrs. Lorne Sparks of
Lucknow, and who counts Huron Chapel her
"second home church," spoke in the morn-
ing service on the obligation and opportuni-
ty of missions, and in the evening On prayer,
