Auxiliary holds
potluck supper
The Arthur Circle Auxiliary rigid a potluck
supper meeting, January 20. Sandi David-
son, president, •-opened the meeting by
welcoming itfveral guests and Evelyn San-
dy who returned after an illness.
A sing -song led by Betty Coulter was en-
joyed by. everyone.
Rev. G.L. Royal, who for many years has
been the annual speaker at the dinner -
meeting, was introduced by Sandi. He
challenged the group stating "Weare bid-
den to shine and not hide ourselves, and let
our light shine for Christ.". He stressed that
we are to become a Oneness in Christ and let
gentleness especially, shine through our
lives.
Rev. Royal was thanked by Ruth Skeoch.
Sandi and Margaret MacKenzie, Life
Membership Convenor, presented Ruth
Skeoch with an Honorary Life Membership
and Pin.
Devotions were led by Grace Cameron.
Joyce Thorn and Sandi Davidson' with the
theme, Spiritual Growth, followed by
-prayer.
Port Albert folk
plan sleigh ride
The Port Albert ski-a-thon and sleigh ride
on February 8 starts at Charlie Crawford's
barn. Lunch will be provided.
The Port Albert Lottery draw will be held
at Petrie's General Store Saturday,
February 1. Also the monthly euchre party
will be held at Christ Church, Port Albert,
Friday, Feb. 7 at 8:00.
Former Port Albert resident, Ken Doher-
ty has agreed to be master of ceremonies
during the 150th celebrations.
Brochures listing the 150th anniversary of
Aug. 1, 2, 3 and 4, 1986 will soon be available
at local merchants.
Jim McDade is elected chairman
of recreation board for second year
The Goderich .Recreation Board ap-
pointed Jim McDade its chairman for the
calendar year by acclamation and coun-
cillor John Doherty will , serve as the
group's vice-chairman.
The board also appointed chairmen for
its four sub -committee, system. McDade
and mayor Eileen'Palmer will serve on all
committees.
Ron Klages will chair the Agriculture
Park committee which includes, members
Butch Desjardines, Harry Worsell, Jim
Searls and Doug Currie. Ron Bushell is in
charge of the pool. • committee and
members include Desjardines and Pat
Hamilton. Hamilton will head up the
cultural activities. committee with help
from Currie and Searls. She will also act as
the baord's representative on the board for,
the MacKay Centre for Seniors.
Each committee chairman will serve on
the board's personnel committee.

In its first meeting of the yea' the oai
voted in favor of installing a telephone at
the mini -community centre on Cambridge
Street as requested ` by the Goderich
Squash Club.
Club representatives Dave Brereton and
Eric Kirk appeared before the board re-
questing a phone be placed in the lobby for
use mainly as an emergency outline in the
event of a serious injury at the .squash
court and also so that doctors using the
facility can be- reached by phone in the
, event of a medical emergency. The phone,
the installation of which will be paid for by
the club, will also accommodate bookings
and cancellations of court times.
The board also agreed to split the $300
cost of placing, additional lighting over the
club's portable facility in the community
centre's gymnasium.
In other business, the board agreed to
. waive the $200 fee for the rental of the

Night:
Representative John Hoy told the board
that while the event was a success for the
organization, waiving the fee would help
as the group tries to climb out from under
$5,622 in debts.
Board member Jim Searls recommend-
ed the board absorb the fee in an effort to
"try and help out." . Pat Hamilton sug-
gested the Junior C games Friday evening
, was giving teens something to do and en-
dorsed the motion to waive the fee.
The board will be .preparing its 1986
budget at a special meeting Wednesday,
February 5 at town hall. Sub committees
will meet beforehand to prepare cost and
revenue' estimates for the meeting.
Budgets have to be submitted to ad-
ministrator Larry McCabe by Feb. 14. -
