WEDNESDAY NIGHT LADIES
On ice one Nancy McKinnon's team of
Georgia Ball, Donna Finnegan, and Patti
McManus, won 9-5 over Karen Kirk's team
of Anne Steward, Rosemary Beange, and
Gwen Kiar despite a spectacular triple
take-out in the fourth end and a double in
the eighth by Karen Kirk.
Doreen Garrow's team of Lesley Zolob,
Ruth Jermyn and Michelle Lakachko gain-
ed another victory on ice 2 against Lexi
O'Neil's team, skipped by Holly Doherty
with Vi Stringer and Patty Noirel. Despite
being short-handed the O'Neil team curled
well but Garrow's team came on strong in
the third end and continued to a 10-2 win.
Ice 3.saw Emily Crew's team of Kathy
Hamilton, Colleen Maguire and Kelly
Schriner win over Nancy Nephew's short-
handed team of Joan Hibbert and Roberta
Machon, 8-4. It was a good ' game with ex-
cellent shots by both teams.
Legion Midgets win, tie
in league -play this week
The Goderich Legion Midgets played
four games in the, last week, winning one,
losing two and tying one.
On Thursday, Jan. 16, the Midgets
travelled to Lucan and came home with an
11-5 victory. Mark Cauchi led the Goderich,
attack. witb five point& .
Goderich got off to a fast start as they
scored .three goals in the first minute of
play. 'The Goderich team then seemed to
fall asleep as Lucan came back to tie it late
in the second period. This caused another
three-minute explosion of good play by the
Midgets and they again scored three goals
before the period ended. Goderich con-
tinued to pressure Lucan in the third
period as they outscored them 5-2. The
Midgets plan to play a much better defen-
sive game against Lucan in their final two
meetings this year.
Goal scorers for Goderich were: Cauchi,
Darrel Durnin and Rod Nurse two each,
'f.) and singles for Brian Chambers, Dave
Duncan, Richard Boddy, Matt Wilkinson,
and Ryan Kelly. Assists went to Duncan
one, • Bruce Culbert one, Nurse one, 'l4eil
Rodger one, Boddy one, Cauchi three, Jim
Beattie one, Kelly. two, Tom Bean three
and Ian MacKinnon four. ,
Last Saturday the. Midgets played in a
tournament in which they lost both games.
The first game was against Wasaga Beach
who won by a score of 5-3.,
The Midgets were leading until the third
period when they ran into penalty trouble
and Wasaga Beach came back and won.
Neil Rodger tipped in a Wilkinson shot
with Durnin getting the other assist for
Goderich's first goal. Their second goal
was scored by Tom Bean on a pass from
MacKinnon and Cauchi. Rod Nurse round-
ed out Goderich's scoring by converting a
pass from Durnin and Chambers.
Jay Williamson played his usual strong
self keeping the opponents to just four
. goals, and an empty net goal.
In the second game Goderich looked as if
they had not recovered from the comeback
win by their onnonents in the first game as
Rolls Royce

,point win over Auleen's Angels. She had
plenty of help from Donna Duncan 183, 190,

bad night as they didn't bowl their team

100 per cent of their average and came
away with seven points. Good games roll-
ed by Alice Mero 165, 166, Ila Williams 195,
Marilyn Bannister 218 and Kit Smith 171,
205, 215, 591 triple which was 135 pins over
her average.
Flamboro defeated them 5-1.
The whole Goderich team just couldn't'
get going and the result was a constant at-,
tack by 'the Flamboro team. Goderich's
loan goal came when Mark Cauchi scored
a shorthanded goal: Tom Bean received
the assist. The best play of the game cane
when goalie Gerd Maclnnis came mit of
the net and shot the puck to send a player
on a breakaway, though he did not score.
The next morning, Sunday, the Midgets
travelled to Mount Brydges and they came
back to tie the game at six, after being
down 4-0. Darrel. Durnin led the Midgets
with four points.
Mount Brydges surprised Goderich as•
they scored two goads in the first minute of
play. They then scored two more this time
within two minutes to take a four -goal
lead. Goderich got one goal back before
the period ended when Cauchi tipped a
pass from MacKinnon and/Tim Wilson on
the powerplay.
Goderich decided to make it their turn to
come out fast in the second period when
two minutes into it MacKinnon and Durnin
send a pass to Beattie who scored. Mount
Brydges scored another to make it 5-2. But
then Goderich spored two goals to end the
second period. Duncah scored on a good
passing play from Wilson and Durnin with
three minutes left in the period. A minute
later Rod Nurse scored on almost the iden-
tical play, this time from Beattie and Dur-
nin.
In the third, Goderich tied the game
when MacKinnon moved in from the point
to grab a rebound. Durnin and Duncan
received the assists. Forty-three seconds
later Cauchi stole the puck and scored on a
good unassisted effort to give Goderich the
lead. But with less than five minutes to go
Mount Brydges scored to tie the game.
The Midgets' record is now seven 'wins,
10 losses, and two ties in Shamrock league
play.
Goderich finishes the season with two
games against Lucan, one away on Friday
and the other at home next Wednesday.
